> I’ve always viewed The Warriors as taking place in a New York City that’s a few steps down the road towards dystopic – not enough cops, gangs exerting more muscle (like starting a fire to shut down the subway), “civilians” staying out of the streets out of fear, etc.

I think Rudy and Mike saw this movie and decided they would do everything they could to prevent it from happening, overcompensating in the other direction. Given my age at the time of _The Warriors_ (young teen), I think I would have really liked all those gangs with their costumes.

Pop Will Itself Eat ? 🙂 The music’s cool, but the videos are a bit cheesy. But still, how many groups sampled The Warriors?

I must admit that I spent a wasted evening, 1990-something in Detroit, getting drunk with them on their tour bus, discussing the merits of their song Wake Up, Time To Die.

Deborah Van Valkenberg would go on to make Streets of Fire, another dystopian gang comic book, and was still working as of 2012

She actually did a sitcom with Ted Knight soon after the Warriors… “Too Close For Comfort”, so she’s been one of the more successful alumni of **The Warriors** , that’s for sure.
