# Movies were the father figure is revealed to have been scared

I’m thinking scenes like in the Lion King were Mufasa acts Tough and scares away the hyenas and then afterwards reveals to Simba that he was scared after all.

I know I have scenes like this before, but I cannot recall where. Those scenes have always seemed powerful to me.

On Game of Thrones (I know, TV, not a movie), the father admits he’s afraid all the time for his family and people, the child asks his father, “How can a man be brave if he’s afraid.” The father answers, “That’s the only time a man can be brave.”

In THE INCREDIBLES, the retired superhero and father-of-three prepares to go back into action, with a matter-of-fact _“Wait here and stay hidden … I have to do this alone.”_ When he’s asked why, it at first sort of sounds like he’s doing it to relive his glory days, or to get a respectable workout, or something, before he emotionally clarifies that, no, it’s that he’s not strong enough to lose his wife and kids.
