Seven Samuri/The Magnificent Seven
Batteries not Included
Superman
Fritz Lange’s “M”, the criminals all band together to find a child killer and put him on trial. Of course they only do this because the extra police out to find the child killer are making their own criminal endevours harder.

[QUOTE=Lute Skywatcher]
[Silverado](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090022/) might work.This is for a list to give to parents, it would be up to them to let their boys watch or not.
[/QUOTE]

Yeah, but some parents will ASSume that I have given them a “safe” list. I would prefer to not face psycho parent who thinks that the merit badge teacher has encouraged their kid to watch female masturbation… (She should hear her kid on campouts when I listen in on the kids in their tents).

The list on the website stinks (hence my request to the Dope for help). The Passion of the Christ as a movie about getting involved with a local community?

Seeing _Schindler’s List_ there makes me think of [Jakob the Liar](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120716/).

_The Stand_ would probably be out, yes. _IT_, being a TV miniseries, was nowhere near as graphic as the book so it’s a possible.

[QUOTE=Algher]
I need a list of PG movies that I can give to 12 year old boys to watch. This is for the Citizenship in the Community Merit badge for Boy Scouts.

Its a Wonderful Life is a good one, but I was hoping for some other recommendations.

What about _To Kill A Mockingbird_?

My son’s scout troop uses [Coach Carter](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393162/), even though it’s rated PG-13. I haven’t watched it myself, so I have no comment.

My only problem with Hoot would be the support of eco-terrorism. (Does _every_ Carl Hiaasen book have eco-terrorism? :rolleyes: ) After seeing Hoot I tried explaining to my son **Dweezil** that vandalism is illegal, no matter how cute the owls were. No dice. Otherwise, Hoot is good. No sex - even implied. Very little bad language - if any. Good guys (and owls) win.

What about [Hotel Rwanda](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0395169/)? I haven’t seen it, and I’m sure it’s pretty heavy going, but the guy did save a lot of lives.
