I really enjoyed it because I can relate to it from my experience attending a high school with rich white upper middle class like in the movie. It really was exactly like that.

_It Follows_ was overrated, agreed.

You’re not alone.

I pretty much disagree with the mass in general for most movie, or at least with IMDB which is not a reliable source imo unless you stick with the 1 out of 10 stars reviews. The one that baffle me most is ‘Lost in Translation’. The movie is xenophobic for one, the attraction between the two characters are utterly ridiculous and childish. I would go as far to say I would not date someone who think this is a good movie.

I recently watched **Mad Max: Fury Road** on HBOGO and I was surprised it got such overwhelmingly good reviews. There was definitely an intriguing sort of primal spectacle about the film which I enjoyed but the plot was pretty half assed. I didn’t hate the film. I’d consider it the second best **Mad Max** movie, but that’s not exactly high praise.

I’ve always felt that **The Departed** was overrated. It was a mediocre effort by great talents. When I heard that Scorsese and Nicholson were making a film inspired by the life of Whitey Bulger I was excited. But the film contained many plot points that were convoluted and just silly. It wasn’t necessary a bad film, but I feel it is undeserving of some of the high praise its received. It wasn’t on the same level as **Goodfellas**. It wasn’t on the same level as **Casino**. It wasn’t even on the same level as **Gangs of New York** , which had plenty of its own flaws as a film but was at least a very ambitious and relatively unique work.

> **Alien**. Without going into my usual rant, basically, the characters in the film were too stupid to care about.

It was simply a typical horror film, better than many, but not great.

> I’ve said this before, including in a recent thread, but I didn’t like _Unforgiven_ (RT 95/94, IMDB 8.3). I generally like Westerns. It’s been more than a decade but particularly the English Bob part seemed stupid.
>
> _The Hurt Locker_ (RT 98/84, IMDB 7.6). I didn’t hate it completely, but Jeremy Renner’s character was offputtingly stupid.
>
> Just barely: _The World’s End_ (RT 89/71, so it looks like some fans agree). They forgot along the way to make it funny. I love the other films in the “trilogy.” Actually now that I think of it _Hot Fuzz_ had to grow on me.

Unforgiven is too damn dark.

Hurt Locker bored me.

Yes, it needed more funny.
