Add another vote for **Very Bad Things**. Second most hated for me. My # 1 most hated I haven’t seen mentioned yet (maybe I missed it) is:
**Natural Born Killers**
I am not a movie expert, so maybe this is a good movie, maybe it’s great, maybe it sucks. I don’t care. I just never have never been so pissed at a movie before or since.

You CAN’T be serious. LA Confidential is one of the best crime movies ever. Awesome film.

Had to add my two cents here. I watch alot of movies and really do love alot of crappy ones, but even I have my limits.

1. Any movies with talking babies. They just creep me out.
2. Any movies with terrible stand-up comedians as the lead. Carrot Top, Bobcat Goldthwait, Andrew “Dice” Clay and their ilk. Gimme a break.
3. Recent John Travolta movies. As far as I am concerned, “Pulp Fiction” was the last movie he made.

There are more, but I am rambling right now as it is.

This POS wasn’t in the least factual; of course, with John Travolta as a crusading lawyer, the plot didn’t have much of a chance. The only good part was Robert Duvalll as the old yankee lawyer…he was alwys needling the other lawyer: “Cheese man?”. Travolta came across as basically totally confused: the parents (who lost children to cancer0 didn’t seem particularly bright either.

**Hannibal** - Not just throroughly, needlessly disgusting, but they ruined the character of Clarice Sterling. Yup, she went from a strong, intelligent, resourceful investigator into an amoral, idiot criminal.

**Eyes Wide Shut** - It was supposed to be erotic but ended up being duller than dirt.

**Armaggedon** - I can suspend my disbelief, but I’ll be damned if I will suspend my intelligence. The whole premise of the movie was stupid and then you add in the cheese factor…

> While I didn’t despise it, I have to say that I understand the people who are including _Goodfellas_. Maybe it’s a great film if you are into film making and appreciate the technical skill that went into it, but I don’t really know much about that stuff, and I didn’t like the movie much. It boiled down to the fact that there’s not one character who was the least bit sympathetic or likeable. So for me it was just two plus hours of irritating assholes doing astoundingly stupid and reprehensible things.

Yeah, I found _Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind_ irritating for the same reason (though that one has not descended or sunk, however that may be, to the rand of a movie I despise the way I despise the ones I named earlier).

**Rushmore** and **The Royal Tennenbaums** bored me to death. That’s why I skipped **The Life Aquatic**. I guess dry humor and I just don’t get along.

>
Rollerball. First they get the only guy who emulates Keanu Reeves - Chris Klein. Then they make him the lead. My ears longed to be soothed my the acting excellence of “Whoa.” Attempting to understand the “game” was maddening - bad guy uses a rocket launcher to shoot at the good guys and blow them off their bikes, then he takes out a sniper rifle and shoots one of the good guys dead. Extra rockets laying around, might as well not waste them? Then they have to sneak across the border at night. The cinematographer chose to film the entire HOUR LONG sequence as if you were looking through night vision goggles. Suffice it to say that the only time I would ever spend that long watching night vision goggle footage would be if Paris Hilton were involved.
>
> In the end, back in the championship game, after spending the entire movie outrunning henchmen, blowing things up, etc, Klein simply jumps through a plate glass window and kills the main bad guy (Jean Reno, a complete waste) and his bodyguards. As a final insult to me personally, they used the old slow-motion technique to hide the fact that both bodyguards could have easily shot him dead. Instead, they use fancy editing to make it seem like Klein gets the drop on them one at a time, even though they show each bodyguard pull out their guns and point them at him.
>
> Oh, and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos in on hand for no reason other than to look good in her leather outfit. I should like that, right? No, b/c they do that little trick where everyone naked in the shower turns away from the camera strategically so you can’t see anything.
>
> Let’s see…am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah - LL Cool J was on hand to destroy his acting and singing careers simultaneously.
Spoiler boxes only work when you actually tell us what film is being spoiled.

In this case, Rollerball.

Forgive me for listing a movie that I haven’t even seen, but something tells me that the only reason the movie **Shallow Hal** hasn’t been mentioned yet is because nobody else saw it either. I read the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and it seems like the commercials pretty much tell you what the whole movie is. The whole premise of the movie is offensive. They try to give it a moral message of “Beauty comes from within, it doesn’t matter if you’re overweight” and then they proceed to make tasteless fat jokes and depict the “inner beauty” of women as being young, skinny, and (from what I remember of the commercials) white. Give me a break.

Funnily enough, I thought that was a really funny movie. And I’m not just ‘overweight’, I’m pretty much the size of the Gwyneth Paltrow character. Bits I really loved:

1. When Hal ‘compliments’ Rosemary’s mother by saying he can see where she got her looks from. 😃
2. The bit where Hal thinks the guys mocking Rosemary at the takeaway store are talking about him.
3. Rosemary throws her underwear at Hal and it morphs from size 4 to size 28. I thought the visual effect was hilarious, though I have to admit to thinking that there’s no way a fat girl is going to be that uninhibited as to throw her undies at a guy the first time she gets naked with him.
4. The opening scene where Hal’s father, the pastor, is dying and tells him that the most important thing in life is a woman with great tits and a tight ass (or words to that effect) because the morphine has kicked in and he’s completely out of it.
5. Every time Hal looks at the stunning nurse he sees the most horrific hag imaginable, and then has to act polite when one of his friends decides to date her.
In fact, the only thing I didn’t much like was Jason Alexander, but I just can’t take to him. I’d not say it’s the best film ever, but I did find it pretty funny.

I don’t understand this. I had read Johnathon Harr’s book long before the movie came out and my recollection is that the characters and plot details were very accurate. The largest editorial licence was taken with the court case itself. This was understandable as the book had the luxury of showing in painstaking detail how the waters were muddied by the process itself. I thought the shorthand telling hit all the right points. Maybe not as good as Newman’s _The Verdict_ or _Absence of Malice_ but a pretty fine movie.

I couldn’t even finish _Party Monster_. I enjoyed James St. James’ memoir of the same name, but the movie was absolute _crap_. I was hanging out with a friend when I mentioned it. He handed me a DVD, that his friend gave him, and told me to take it home and watch it. That should have been a hint right there.

I’d managed to forget _Patch Adams_ until this thread. Thanks.

I didn’t love the Big Lebowski, either. It was okay when I was drunk once, but that was the only time I thought it was remotely funny. And my husband made me watch the damn thing four times.
