Oliver Stone’s _U-Turn_ fellated goats with great alacrity. I hated that movie. The guy can’t even get a drink of water! What a frustrating and pointless movie.

Add me to the list of people who thinks _American Beauty_ was a terrible waste of film. I hated the homophobe dad (who turns out to be gay), the fact that everything would have been fine if these people had ever heard of curtains and the fact that Mena Suvari was wearing a leather skirt in one scene but was shot from the waist up! ARRRGH!

I also thought _Very Bad Things_ was stupid and pointless. Movies are supposed to entertain me, not piss me off!

> _Punch Drunk Love_. It was fucking horrible from start to finish, with even Emily Watson (who I usually really like) embarrassing herself over the idiotic “plot” and dialogue. If there was any justice, everyone involved with this useless piece of celluloid garbage would have been hounded out of the movie business forever.

I watched this a couple weeks ago through Netflix. It’s the only movie I made it all the way though on and still gave one star to. There was \*NO \*point to the movie.

> Now, _Mulholland Drive_ is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I wanted to check out more Lynch, and this one seemed to be well regarded. The opening scenes had me going “Oh yeah, this is going to be great.” Nope. It ended up being so brutal and degrading that I couldn’t take enough showers to wash the scum off. Who _needs_ this shit, part deux.

Sophomore year in college, I went out on a first date with a guy who took me to see this. Did I say _first_ date? I meant _only_ date.

I can’t honestly say there are too many movies I flat-out despise, but I really did not enjoy some of the ones mentioned here, such as **Punch-Drunk Love** , **Blair Witch** (I found it laughable, really), and **Eyes Wide Shut**.

I did actually walk out of **Raising Cain**. Thank goodness I only paid the matinee price for it, but there’s time out of my life I’ll never get back.

The animated Adam Sandler movie, **8 Crazy Nights** was maybe the worst experience I’ve ever had in a movie. Utterly joyless, unfunny, diseased, soul draining garbage. It was a turd in cartoon form.

I’m not an anti-Sandler snob either. I can pretty much sit through any of his goofy live action comedies and find something to laugh at but man, that cartoon sucked HARD.

The movie “[Darkness](http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=info&id=1808411833)” was so terrible that I - for the very first time in my life - snuck into another theatre to watch another film.

The Notebook: Apparently the director took every cliche in the book, pasted them together and decided to call it a movie. Generally I can deal with that if the movie is a little bit entertaining but in this case, the movie had no flow to it. It was like a series of random scenes put together. I also had trouble with the motivation for the characters actions at times.

Dreamcatcher: Good GOD what a bad movie. I can’t find my review on it that I wrote and I haven’t seen the movie in so long I forget most of the reasons. I seem to remember thinking you could throw a dart blindfolded towards that movie and it’d land on a reason why it sucks.

Elektra: I’m sure there’s some sort of plot in there somewhere…

The Passion of the Christ: Stan on south park summed it up pretty well. I have other reasons but I know better than to get into those.

A Clockwork Orange: I’m not even sure why to be honest.

**Aspen Extreme**. On a trip, I was given the choice as a teenager to either choose the teen disco for several hours or watch Aspen Extreme. Terrible. Despite being a socially awkward youth, I think I would have preferred being mocked by my peers at the disco.

**Stepmom**. I can’t even talk about that one.

**Eye of the Beholder** is one of the worst movies ever made. At the time, I was a huge Ewan MacGregor fan, and I still absolutely hated it and could never watch it again. I’d choose a root canal first.

I normally like sci-fi movies but I absolutely hated **Dune**. Too slow-moving, horrible acting, trite plot, and just boring.

However, in the ‘there’s no accounting for taste’ department – I really liked **Moulin Rouge** and **American Beauty** , as well as **A Clockwork Orange** , so if you haven’t seen them, don’t get scared away! They are very polarizing movies, though - love them or hate them.

One of the worst movies of recent years, for sure. Dreamcatcher played out like a bad episode of South Park: an alien that looks like a giant piece of crap with teeth and crawls in and out of people’s asses, a guy who is killed by said alien while on the toilet, a deranged military man who shoots his own troops in anger, four idiot friends who discover this ultimate evil while on a camping trip, and a retarded kid who turns out to be the alien savior.

The Truman Show was funny…? I loved Jim Carrey’s performance in Bruce Almighty (can’t help it, I love Jim Carrey for some demented reason), but I agree it wasn’t a very good movie per se.

To answer the OP:

I HATED **Dead Poet’s Society**. Hated hated hated it. And that’s disappointing to me because I love the director Peter Weir (who also directed The Truman Show, coincidentally, which is one of my all time fave movies).

Here here! I came to this thread to express similar sentiments. Hated the movie.

Also:
Magnolia
Good Fellas - I walked out on this with only 15 minutes left. They just couldn’t wrap it up in anyway that I would have cared.

I hated **American Beauty**. Couldn’t finish it, but at least it was a housemate who’d paid to rent it.

The movie I was most disappointed in, so much so I had to walk out of it, was **Jurassic Park**. I got kicked completely in my suspension of disbelief when I saw at least one way around their ‘foolproof’ population control methods. (And a less fantastic one than what was actually used.)

A lot of the stinker movies that have been mentioned in this thread I avoided. And some of the ‘good’ ones, too. Just because they weren’t to my tastes.

Oddly enough, one of the movies that I am surprised by my disgust for is **Bicentennial Man**. I normally don’t notice ethnic mixes in movies. I’m not really proud of it - but it’s true. However, when there is only one character, including extras (from what I saw the one time I watched the movie), who was not white, and it claimed to describe a United States through 200 years of development, without some kind of major disruption - there’s something wrong there.

I just saw mine last night (against my better judgment, no less) - **Anchorman**. HO-LY SHIT. I found absolutely nothing redeeming about this movie. Nothing. What’s worse is that I then went on Rotten Tomatoes and it’s listed as FRESH! You could have knocked me over when I read that, I was so blown away. The cliched premise, the non-existant plot, the reliance on pointless and non-sensical potty humor as hilarity, the awful acting … my god. I mean, I knew I didn’t like Will Farrell’s attempts at “comedy” going in, but I figured that I could at least sit through it without completely despising every second. Boy oh boy was I wrong. When “it smells like Bigfoot’s dick” is considered a joke, I know I’m out of my league.

If someone gave me the choice between being castrated and sitting through that tripe again, I’d have to give the matter serious thought. Yeeuuuch.

Sorry, but I can’t let that go without a response. [Goodfellas](http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0099685/) is one of the **best** movies ever made. On every level - the acting, the directing, the editing (wow!), the score … - it is a masterpiece. It would be a shame if someone crossed the film of their “to see” list because of your opinion (which you are, of course, entitled to 🙂 )

Hmmm…it’s a great movie, alright, but one of the best? It isn’t even the best movie Scorsese has made, by a three count. IMHO. That’s kind of damning with faint criticism–Scorsese has directed some of the best movies ever made–but I don’t know that I’d make it a Top 10, or even a Top 20.

But well worth watching, even if it did totally alter my mental imagery about the Derek and the Dominos song “Layla”.

“Sure, mom, I settle down with a nice girl every night, then I’m free the next morning.”

Add votes for American Beauty, Moulin Rouge and Boogie Nights.

I’ll contribute “Fame” before it was bad television it was even worse cinema. As the original poster requested, this is the movie that causes my flesh to boil, my brain to rot, and my tongue to cleave to the roof of my mouth. I have a deep abiding hatred of this movie – really.

Re: **Dreamcatcher**. I own it – but only because someone gave me his extra copy. I tried to sneak it back to him with another DVD I borrowed, and he reminded me that _Dreamcatcher_ was mine. I wouldn’t put this one on my ‘detested’ list, but it’s not very good.

I think you answered your own question here.

I agree. I sat through the whole thing and then wondered why I didn’t walk out before. I ended up more shellshocked than when I watched Fight Club the night after my divorce was finalized. I will never watch another Peter Greenaway film again. I don’t care if he has Elizabeth Shue having explicit lesbian sex with Natalie Portman. It just ain’t gonna happen.
