_Total Recall_ (the original version with Schwarzenegger). I don’t know why, because I have the damn thing on DVD. This is unlikely to happen again, though, because I’m a cord-cutter. The only station I get with my rabbit-ears antenna is that channel that shows _Criminal Minds_ reruns all day. ---

The original Independence Day. I liked it well enough when first released but over the years watching it in bits and pieces on TV I have come to the conclusion that it’s really good; it’s a completely synthetic formula film which just works scene by scene. ---
