I could say Conan the Barbarian…but I’m not embarassed about it…I think it is a fine flick. The one I would be somewhat embaraased about would be Starship Troopers. ---

Not really ashamed to admit it, but _The Scout_. That’s pretty much the only movie that I genuinely like that seems to have no other takers. ---

The Craft and Practical Magic. Also the two Narnia movies. It seems like most of the people who loved the books hated the movies, but I loved the books and thought the movies were good fun, even if they weren’t exactly faithful to the books. ---

There are a lot of movies I think take entirely too much flak from people who want them to be more than fun wastes of time–_Waterworld_, _Starship Troopers_, _The Day After Tomorrow_, _Armageddon_, _The Core_. I’m not… _ashamed_, exactly, to have them in my collection but I know there are people who would look at me askance. _A Few Good Men_ is kind of silly, but I really like it, and I think it has some great dialogue (beyond the obvious; the movie has basically become synonymous with Nicholson and I think that’s unfortunate). I also like the rifle drill that opens the movie. Mm. _Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow_ is profoundly ridiculous but appears to have been crafted _for me specifically_ (zeppelins? Flying aircraft carriers? Robots and death rays? Sweet) and as a result I love it all, the ludicrous technology and the campiness naturally included. I found _Lost in Translation_ a beautiful movie and have since discovered that this makes me a philistine, apparently. For me it was both evocative and nostalgic, and it spoke to the kind of feelings I had growing up there–a mix of wonder and complete, stark alienation. It’s one of my favourite movies. ---

**Space Cowboys** was such a terrible, but such a great movie. How has this thread made it to this point without that movie being mentioned? Or was it really that bad and I’m the only one who liked it? ---
