Jeeze, every movie I like I should be embarrassed over.

This is only a partial list. 😃

I really like Red Dawn, starring Mr. Patrick Swayze. It’s that movie where there is war going on right in Middle America. I was pretty shocked and mystified when I saw it on a list of worst movies in the last 20 years. I mean, really, even if it’s not as good as I think, come on! It’s not that bad! Even when they shout out “wolverines” whenever they bomb something, it’s not that bad.

Okay, I just remembered one I forgot to post earlier. I love. LOVE, even though I know it’s awful, _The Faculty_, that lame teen horror flick about the teachers turning into aliens. I’ve probably seen it 20 times. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I’m strangely drawn to it. When people ask me why I have it I lie and tell them it was a gift from my little sister. But I bought it, and I watch it all the time.

There’s a great scene in the great movie _Planes, Trains, and Automobiles_ in which upper-class businessman Steve Martin is lambasting annoying and inconsiderate, but otherwise nice guy John Candy. Near the end, the camera pulls in to a close-up on Candy’s face, and you can just see his normally pleasant demeanor collapse. What the camera actually shows is an impassive expression on Candy’s face, and the context of the situation helps us to understand what is going on inside him. The psychological term for it is projection; ie, we all know how we would feel in such a situation, and by showing us a tabula rasa, the director and Candy allow us to identify closely with him. It’s an old, oft used, and very effective technique, when the director knows how to set up the scene to provide the emotional context, and the actor has been convincingly showing us other sides to his/her personality.

When the director is a hack utterly incapable of developing any kind of emotional context to a scene, and constantly shows us an actress with no emotional range whatsoever whose only acting technique seems to be the neutral expression, you get _Sleepaway Camp_. Everyone except the above mentioned actress wildly overplays their part. The final twist is indeed surprising, but only because the entire plot and presentation thereof was a cheat made possible by a crude, obvious composite shot.

I bought the DVD the day it came out. It is a truly horrible movie, and I love it. I am not embarrassed in the least about this.

_Meet Joe Black_. I hate telling people that I thought this was a great movie, since it got smacked down so much critically. But Brad Pitt is so great!

_Porky’s_ and _Porky’s Revenge_ (and _Animal House_, along those lines, but that one doesn’t embarrass me). My father loves these type of movies – the really, really stupid high school hijinks onces – and he has instilled that love in me. Although _Hollywood Knights_ is vapid, with or without Michelle Pfeiffer.

I, too, love _Hairspray_.

_Bound_. Cheap excuse for softcore lesbian porn. But I still love it. Especially when you can see the beginnings of the distinctive Wachowski Brothers flair that comes into its own in _The Matrix_.

**Silvio** and **Stoid** – I also like a terrible Kevin Costner movie. Mine is _Waterworld_. ::hangs head:: I’m so ashamed.

All of my other ones would be repeats. Some of these might be – it’s early and I’m tired. heh.

Hey, I really liked _Crossroads_. I even went out and bought the Ry Cooder soundtrack for it.

Um, aren’t we talking about the 1986 Ralph Macchio film?

Britney who?

I think Eddie Deezen is just the tops. “Go straight through Falken’s Maze!” (vigorous shaking of head)
As for me,

_Johnny Dangerously_
_King Pin_
_While You Were Sleeping_
_Taps_
_Stop, or My Mom Will Shoot_

Just kidding about that last one. Never seen it.

personnally, I get sucked into any movie that has Ice-T in it, no matter how small the roll.

Tank Girl
Johnny Mnemonic
Trespass

and of course the best Ice-T movie of all…

Surviving the Game.

This film did have one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen

Meet Joe Black is a three hour ad for Brad Pitt’s hairdesser

My Hall of Lame includes [They Live](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0096256). A film when John Carpenter couldn’t even afford Kurt Russell.

And yes, I am ashamed.

I loved FLASH GORDON, too. The outrageous use of color! The Very Mean Ming the Merciless. But most of all, the music by QUEEN!
