I saw the first _Underworld_ with friends, and when we saw that a sequel was in the works, we laughed out loud. It was worth the MST 3000 treatment, but otherwise I regret that evening. YMMV.

I suppose Tideland counts, if it ever gets released. Always have been a fan of Gilliam, so it will be interesting if he redeems himself after Brothers Grimm or if he has actually turned into crap.

!!! First I’ve heard of that! Sounds like the kind of thing with plenty of potential for achievement or for fuckup. I wonder if the, well, the religious sensibility, or lack thereof, will be the same as in the original. I mean, in view of the premise, it could have been made like the _Left Behind_ movies where the whole point is to encourage the viewers to Get Saved – but it wasn’t, it was **horror.** May the remake remain so!

In addition to a bunch of the ones others have mentioned, I look forward to _Nacho Libre_, starring Jack Black as a man who becomes a luchadore (Mexican wrestler) in order to save an orphanage.

As a lifelong colonial history buff, I’m looking really forward to _New World_. The trailer looks like they may have it much closer to accurate than previous movies (even moreso than the Disney movie with Mel Gibson).

I’m also looking foreward to _Brokeback Mountain_ (which is out but hasn’t released where I live) and to [Infamous](http://imdb.com/title/tt0420609/), the _other_ “Capote writes _In Cold Blood_” movie, though I suspect it won’t be as good.

> Yes on the second correction. I got that backwards. No on the first one. It is a Simpson joke that I have to explain everytime I refer to Ron Howard as Potsie, yet I keep swinging!
>
> Explanation: Homer gets a job as Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger’s personal assistant. Ron Howard is a friend that hangs out with them. Homer runs his mouth and people find out they are all in Springfield. The celebs say “someone” must have blabbed (indicating Homer), and he turns to Howard and says “I’m looking at you, _Potsie_!”
>
> No one thinks this joke is worth the effort but it will not be the last time I am corrected, because I will strike again.

I usually call him “Opie Cunningham” from the Eddie Murphy interview of him on SNL.

My favorite thing about Underworld… All vampires live in the same house… Apparetly being a vampire is like being in a sorority.

Cool, but if there no cameo by \*\*\*El Santo \*\*\* \* I will be disappointed.

Holy crap, I had no idea this was in the works, but it sounds AWESOME. And I’m not joking – I’m sure it will be cheesy as hell, but hilarious and probably heartwarming at the same time (like The 40-Year-Old Virgin was). Jack Black is a fine comic actor (see High Fidelity, anyone who doubts), and I’m a huge fan of lucha libre and masked wrestling culture in general. Wow, I can’t wait for this!

**cbawlmer** , you have the best taste. 😉 I can only assume you liked “The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco”?

It would have been a significantly more thoughtful and worthwhile movie if the vampires had been cheerleaders.

If there is any sense of justice (and humor) in the world, every theater in the nation will give out free nachos if you buy a ticket for this movie.

I’m only really looking forward to the _Silent Hill_ movie. I’m really hoping it won’t suck like every other video game movie ever made. And since _Silent Hill_ took so much from my favorite psychological horror movie ever (_Jacob’s Ladder_), I’d say that gives it a better chance than the rest.

Also, _Snakes on a Plane_.
