No Princess Bride quotes from me, but it is just a fun movie. No pressure. The hype killed Indiana Jones for a friend and me. Too much breathless raving over an old Saturday oater left us both overwhelmingly underwhelmed, with lots of eyerolling and sighing throughout. We couldn’t get out of the theater fast enough when it dragged to a close. I’m assuming there will be a great deal of mileage varying on that one… ---

It’s not the hype that’s kept me away, but I sincerely think that these movies will just be a chore to watch. I’ve watched movies like this before, and they always bore me (Citizen Kane, Scareface.) I, too, develop a mental block against books or movies if they’re talked about too much. “You have to see it!” “Oh yeah, well, you’re not the boss of me!” I remember I was working at a drugstore near a movie theater when “Meet the Parents” came out and it seemed like every third person who came in told me it was the funniest! Movie! Ever! There was no way in hell I was going to see it after that. ---

You know what? Thinking about Inception… Right now, I really think that it might be the best movie ever. Maybe the best one by like, a country mile. In fact, the idea that any movie could possibly be better than Inception is just silly. Inception is so good that even the parts of it that are bad are almost certainly done that way on purpose, which makes them good. The more I think about it, the better it gets. I really think it bats it so far out of the park that you have to totally rethink what a park even is. But I’m not going to tell you that.
