Reluctantly, I post this query in the hope that it brings to an end one of the strangest recurring conversations my wife and I have. My beloved wife’s intestinal process is a marvel of modern efficiency. Between 10 AM and noon, every day, she will take a crap and then crap no more until the next day. Whereas I… spread the wealth. I typically have two “poops of significance”, ie. the kind you feel noticeably lighter when you stand up than when you sat down, every day. And I will probably have two minor excretory experiences, where a visit to pee gets augmented by a sphinctural addition. She thinks I am a bizarre freak, and I would never admit aloud or by type to thinking anything like that about her. Which leads me here. 1. A poll: How often, in a day, do you poop? 2. Factual information: What is common? What is healthy? What might cause such disparities? I apologize if this has been discussed before. My search using every synonym for human solid waste produced a buttload of threads, but nothing quite like this. ---

Just wanted to mention that the [/size] tag in the quote is truly misleading & appropriate. :eek: To prevent a drive-by, once a day unless I’ve eaten very spicy food. Its size is appropriate. ---

I’d say 8 times a week. Once a day with an occasional 2nd “surprise” one. ---

Normally twice a day . Once I expel the “blocker” poo the other one follows within an hour. ---

I’m the same as the OP, and have been for years. In concern, I went to hospital, where I got injected, inspected, detected, infected, neglected and selected about it, with ultrasound, colonoscopies, endoscopies, laproscopies, spectroscopies (on the bright side, at least having an “oscopy” makes me a scientist), bloods, stool samples, fingers in every orifice, and all sorts of various other nasties. After all the pain and humiliation, the consultant’s conclusion: “You’re just like that”. The only time I went “normal” was when I did the Atkin’s diet. So probably I have intolerances to most food apart from cheese and meat. But I like my food, so I choose to live with this state of affairs. ---

In general, once a day, usually between 10am and noon. Occasionally, something throws off my rhythm and I miss my window of opportunity. Often what happens then is I simply lose the urge to go until the next day. ---

Pretty much once a day; not quite as regular as clockwork, but usually morning or evening. I tend to settle into a roughly 24-hour rhythm, but that sometimes gets upset and I postpone by 12 hours. I know people you could set your clock by, and I’m not sure that’s entirely a good thing. No scope for bending like a supple willow against the buffeting winds of fate. ---

I’ll go once a day. My grandma thinks that if she doesn’t shit at **least** 3 times a day, she’s constipated. She’s 90 years old, eats and drinks as many laxatives as she can get down her gullet each day.
