Quick question. I realize that cutting one’s toenails in public is rude and disgusting, but I was wondering which part of it disgusted people more: the exposure of the foot or the flying nails going all over the place. Fingernail cutting is also considered rude, because of the latter, but doesn’t **feel** as disgusting for some reason, which is why I suggested the former.

Just wonderin’.

Why don’t you just mention how fucked up that is to do in the office?

Most sit-coms could be solved in the first 5 minutes of the show.

Still going, eh? OK, let me try and explain this situation a little bit better for those of you wondering why I didn’t report him right away and such.

I have worked with this guy for several years and we have a good working relationship. If we didn’t, my job would be much, _much_ more difficult. I am firmly convinced that he is **not** doing it intentionally, just that he doesn’t know any better. He doesn’t really interact with other people much at all. So I give him some slack about it.

Plus, the Devs around here are all pretty weird in their own way - there are things that are tolerated about work schedules, strange personal habits, strange outfits, etc, as long as we produce, which we do. Which is why I didn’t make a big stink about it in the past - he could have easily said something like “how is that different from you walking around in those nasty moccasins??!!” or something along those lines, and in his mind there wouldn’t have _been_ a difference.

However, and I did already mention this above, I will definitely speak to him about it if it happens to me again. I’m just not looking forward to the inevitable dustup, so I will need to tread carefully.

No kidding. You might step on a clipped nail and impale your foot.

There’s this really nasty Jewish superstition about what happens if you leave toenail clippings lying around. I kid you not. Don’t know how you could convince the guy it’s true though… and besides it involves miscarriage so he might not be scared of it.

Leaper: The average foot is much nastier than the average hand. Feet have toejam and smell bad.
