Although I understand your sentiment and political staunch, I think we didn’t have the luxury of waiting until it is legal in Nevada (probably about 2-4 years, according to news reports) and need those legal and financial benefits sooner than later. The tipping point was when I read the military was allowing people leave to fly to states to get married where it is legal, regardless of where they actually lived - and that was a huge indication that there are quite a few more federal laws that are going to get in line quickly. Here’s wishing the two of you very long, very happy lives together. 🙂 Yeah - we have a few friends in LA who I think might be slightly miffed - but as you see, we really couldn’t have invited them even if we wanted to, as the ceremony was sudden and unexpected and the next day we would have all been dressed with nowhere to go - well, I suppose we could have met at Denny’s for a skillet or somethin’… Thank you all for the well-wishes! Despite my often flippant answers and commentary on the actual events, _it really was a meaningful event and we are quite happy to have done it_, and have the actual paperwork to prove it. That said, PLEASE continue with any snarky congrats and comments - you guys are sort of like the reception line we never had, and I can fully envision you smartasses out there, just waiting to get up and say your two cents when you greet us! ---

I find it really amusing that you spent 33 years together, made these wedding plans, travelled to another state and then had to run and have the ceremony squeezed in between 15 minute intervals. Congrats to you both. We’re planning on joining the wedded bliss brigade in the next year. ---
