My drug of choice is Versed. Thats because its what was used during my surgery. I don’t know if I hurt, I just forgot about it. I’m so sorry that TOS is in such pain. PHS, I agree that now is the time to ask friends to visit him. We (friends) always say that we want to help, but forget when its been a while. If I was in your neck of the woods, I would be happy to be asked to visit. Maybe its time for another round of Doper postcards? ---

Yeah, he was in a better mood tonight, that’s for sure. Still says his chest wall hurts, but at least his face isn’t all squinched up in agony. He was just starting to yawn and stretch his arms as I was leaving, so hopefully he’ll be asleep soon. (I didn’t so much take a nap today as I fell into a short-term coma. It was **awesome** , even if it did mean a “Hey, you coming to see me today?” text from Shoe, and me sleeping through what looked like a lovely day.) ETA: my apologies to anyone who asked for our address and didn’t get a response. I totally let that page of this thread get away from me, so please feel free to hassle me as needed. ETA II: a special thanks to the Paypallers who made this round of bill-paying into not nearly the ordeal I was expecting. After the new year, Shoe will be on COBRA (which is better than no insurance but still wildly expensive) and I’m planning to take my leave whenever he’s well enough to be home, which I’m sure will mean he’ll need more attention from me, so for now we’re OK but as soon as the holidays are over I’ll be on ramen’n’beans. So, thank you, to everyone who fended off the wolves at my door for at least a bit. ETA III: I hate that phrase, as I really do like wolves. But it’s a useful saying, so I’m letting it stand. ---

X-rays are showing signs of progress (less cloudy) and plans are in the works to start weaning him off the massive Agent Orange-strength antibiotics, and hopefully a swallow evaluation sometime this week. ---

Woot woot! Go Schmoopie! A swallow study is definitely something you want to wait until the lungs are good. Trust the docs on this one. And yes, definitely less sucky. Bored is good, it means he’s getting better. It also means he’ll be driving you nuts. Enjoy! 🙂 I second the motion to call all of his friends and family and tell them to come visit. Now’s when you need them, but they don’t know it yet. So tell them. ---
