Thank you all for the well-wishes. Dopers are a great support system. I wish I could give you all of the signs and symptoms, but as I said, she’s very private. It would feel like a serious violation of ‘marital HIPAA’. One of her patients was admitted to the hospital recently. Mrs. L.A. would like to visit her. But she’s in no condition to be doing wound-care! 😛 ---

You are doing the right thing. She may have told you to go home, but that is because she is the good wife. Hold her hand as much as you can. Make sure the doctors and nurses are aware that you are her advocate. Your presence will ensure she is more than just an anonymous patient. See if there is any kind of private or comfortable area for families to take breaks and refresh themselves. If she is able to take meals, try to arrange those times together. Stay strong. ---

Today we took a walk around the ward – her second lap today. She’s able to get up and use the bathroom. I brought her a very pretty orchid, and she thought I’d sent the flowers that were on her table. Those were from her work. And work is what I’m doing today, since I missed most of the day yesterday. ---
