I went home and looked; I still have the can: Cafe Du Monde is what I bought that tasted terrible. I’m pretty sure I made it wrong because I can’t imagine people in New Orleans drinking crappy coffee.
Chicory coffee (which is what Cafe du Monde serves) is huge in New Orleans. You are probably not used to the chicory flavor. Also, coffee at Cafe du Monde, as well as most traditional New Orleans/South Louisiana coffee houses, is intended to be served as cafe au lait. I’d recommend you try it again, but with the proportions as half chicory coffee and half steamed milk.
