# Mrs Piper haz new job. I is happy and sad

Happy because it’s a great new job and she’s going to be great in it.
Sad because we have worked together in the same office for a decade, with individual offices side-by-side. We’ve worked on files together, been in court together. She’s a very good barrister, better than me. It’s been a fun ride.
Now we cleaned out her office tonight and all that is done. It’s not her office any more. It’s just an empty office, and the next occupant won’t be Mrs P.

That’ll be an interesting social adaptation for both of you. And now you can’t share the commute from home to work either. Waah!
For a few years long before COVID I did WFH alongside my first wife in our common home office. We had two different and unrelated jobs in unrelated industries, but had continuous togetherness nevertheless. Without even the distraction of other cow-orkers, lunch rooms, etc., that you two have had.
It worked for us, but lots of other people were surprised it did. It speaks well of your marriage that what you have had worked so well for you both. You will want (need?) to find ways to add back more togetherness in the rest of your day now that your newly separate worklives won’t be providing any of that. We sure felt the lack when our co-working came to an end.
Congrats on Mrs. Piper moving upwards and onwards! Be it ever thus.

Oh, that part is okay. She’s just down the street, and she may even get underground parking, instead of the open air parkade we’re in now.
(These things are important when it’s 35 below. ❄ ❄ ❄ )

I guess he’s a KC now. (That’s Queen’s/King’s counsel.)
I have been with my wife 24/7 since I retired nearly 23 years ago and it has been great. Anyway, best fortune to both of you.
