to go on a business trip to Kansas City.

She’ll be back Friday night. While this isn’t the longest we’ll have been apart (they sent her off for a week last fall), it will be the farthest. Before she was never more than a 6 hour drive away. It’s also the farthest she’s flown.

I realize this doesn’t really compare with what some of the others of you have gone through (viz: Mrs.[purple]& Mr. Bear), but it’s all relative. Fact is, we’re still crazy 'bout each other, after five years of spending every day together, and neither of us deal well with being away from the other. F’rinstance, last night I slept a total of ZERO hours and had persistent acid indigestion. (See how the prospect of 3 nights by myself gets me wrought-up?) And she would start getting teary when thinking about leaving.

I’m not sure why I’m posting this here, except that she can check it while she’s gone, and it’s kinda like me painting a great big billboard saying

**I LOVE YOU, SWEETHEART!**
AND, if any of you’d be so kind as to offer prayers up to whoever-you-do-that-sorta-thing-to, that my sweet wife will arrive safely in KC _and_ come back home to me…

well, TIA.

_soft kiss_ and {{{HUGGGS}}} to **jkayla** (AKA Mrs. Tygr)

…and would you LOOK at this - the inconsiderate jerks I work for give me _work_ to do, just when I’d steeled myself for a good day’s worth of moping.

\>SHEESH!\< Some people…

May all planes, trains, and automobiles operate normally.
May all incoming Alberta clippers stop and wait a bit in North Dakota until Mrs. Tygr gets home.
May all Kansas City snow removal departments not run out of salt, may the plows run well, commanded by non-striking drivers.
May the world continue to tick along as usual for the next few days.

Usually begins that way.

‘Honey, I have to leave on a business trip to \_\_\_\_\_\_ (fill in the blank)’. (Variation on the theme of ‘Honey, I have to go to the corner store to get some milk’.)

In 93.46% of cases, they’re never heard from again. (90.56% for the corner store).

If she hasn’t left yet and you have access to her luggage, do this: get about ten post-it notes or pieces of notepaper (small like a post-it note) and write “I love You” on each one. Then tuck them in different places in her luggage.

I did this once when I was married and my then-husband loved it. He was finding them a year later!

**Tygr** , I can commiserate. In 2 weeks, I’ll be leaving home for 3 weeks of training. Hubby and I have withstood many separations over the last 17 years because of work-related stuff. Sadly, horribly, not only will I be leaving sunny Florida for the frosty DC area, but I’ll be computerless because hubby decided to give our laptop to his brother. So, no e-mail, no chat, no SDMB for **THREE WEEKS**!!

I’ll be over here in the corner whimpering pathetically…

Tygr, where the heck have you been? 😃

Zyada’s post-it note idea is a good one. She’ll dig it. Just make sure not to put them anywhere where she won’t see them. It might be a little embarassing for her to go somewhere with a post-it note hanging off her backside, you know?

Awww…I know how you feel!

When my husband and I had been married for about four years, he had to leave for FOUR months to complete his medical rotations in Missouri and Kansas. That was really tough.

I didn’t sleep well either - and there wasn’t an internet back then.

I hope the time passes quickly!

Heh. Yeah, I’m not SUCH a newbie that I haven’t figgered out the little word-tricks to get my threads read. 😉 No hard feelins? Lord knows, I’VE fallen for such tricks…

**Duck** : Thanks, the voo-doo that yoo doo, that did the trick on my innards - 'least until I got that Mickey-Dee’s greaseburger f’r lunch… Now WHERE’D I put that pink stuff?

Actually I WAS doin’ better, tummy-wise, until my sweetie called to say she was leaving work for the airport. I could hear the hitch starting in her voice, so much that when I hung up I had to make a dash for the “Gent’s”. \<Pogo\> goog…\</Pogo\>

**omni-not** : \<Trembling voice\> Wh…Wh…What? _sniffle_…_sniffle_ BWWWAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

**Perse** : Hiya, Milady! We’ve spent past week & 1/2 @ families’ and friends’.

As to **Zyada** ’s and your Post-It idea, well, see, THAT’S the sorta thing _she’d_ think about. BUT, I did give her my little stuffed bean-bag Tigger, after I told her I filled it with hugs.

Gawd, ain’t THAT disgustingly cute? Y’see why some of our friends can’t stand to be around us - we’re just 'zactly like that when we’re together. And that oughta show why these times are so trying.

**FCM** and **Rally** : Three weeks?!? _ **FOUR MONTHS?!?** _ I’m feeling dizzy…

I’d die from lack of sleep. No kidding. When she was gone for a week, I had big problems. A queen size bed gets awfully big for just one.

Thanks again, one and all, for the kind thoughts.

::smacks **Tygr** upside the head for scaring her with the subject line:: Punk!

I’m still sorry she’s going away. But just think of the fun you’ll have when she gets back! About 18 months ago, I spent 3 weeks in Europe on a mission trip, and my now-fiance left for a family vacation in Scotland the day I was flying home – we prob’ly passed each other in the air! That was nearly 6 weeks that we were separated. It sucked. But when he came back, little things that had lost some of their significance from being so daily – like hugs and kisses – meant so much more from missing them. The same thing happened after we spent a few days with my family at Christmastime this (last?) year. We had maybe 3 minutes alone over the whole time we were there, so when we got back, we realized how much fun the little things are! So look forward to that, if nothing else. And then think about how tired you’ll be when she gets back, and how well you’ll both sleep, and the pleasure of waking up next to each other again, and of lounging in bed together, after a nice, long, refreshing sleep. Er something. 😉

This is such a new feeling for me, and I haven’t experienced it (much) yet, but I _fear_ it. psycat and I haven’t been apart yet except for once. I went hunting last fall and came back the next day (I was going to be gone for a couple days/nights). She said she couldn’t sleep, and I was so bored and lonely out there without her.) I just dread the day that one of us has to go somewhere alone. I really need her every day.

I remember reading a story someone posted here about their father, who was waiting at the airport for his wife to come back from a long trip. He was very old and kept jumping up whenever a plane would land. I remember one of them said they would never leave again. It was so sweet and now I can finally begin to understand how they must have felt. I won’t even try to retell the story, because I could never be as poignant as the original author, but if anyone can find that thread, I’d love to read it again.

She called from our airport to tell me that her flight was delayed.

::Checks [FlightArrivals.com](http://FlightArrivals.com) ::

OK, her flight to Cincinnati has departed 2 hrs late and is reported as having arrived. Flight from Cin. to KC looks to be on schedule, whoops, check that. It’s running late, too.

Gad… I wanna git HOME so I can be there when she CALLS to tell me she got IN o.k. but some BUTT-HED client wants somethin’ by TOMORROW at 10 AM and just to CAP the day off the job’s in POWERPOINT, that BANE of all SENSIBLE graphic designers, not to MENTION that they want me to put INTERACTIVE frou-frou in it-ooooh-i-feel-a-PIT-MOMENT-coming-on-GRRRR! and I’m not even gonna talk about my ill-will towards her EMPLOYER sending her out on her FIRST DAY BACK FROM THE HOLIDAY and we CLOSE ON OUR HOUSE in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS SO WE OUGHTA BE PACKING BUT **NOOOO!** they gotta send her off RIGHT NOW! Ooooh, the flames are a-buildin’…

::Grabs hold of self. Deep breaths - in,out - in,out…tennineeightsevensixfivefourthreetwoone! ::

Ohhh-KAY! I’m better now, really. She’s gonna quit after we get moved anyway, and I’m gonna lobby her for NO 2 weeks notice! Razza-frazzin-ooh-I-oughta…

**stargazer** : Have you got surveillance cameras in our apartment? You just outlined our Fri. night/Sat. morning agenda. I pick her up at the airport about 10PM - and yer right… Slowly waking up together on a Saturday morning and lounging and cuddling is one of our favorite traditions.

**Demo** : That’s a really sweet story (as was your personal story) and it sums up me & Mrs. Tygr perfectly. Some hip young cool-ster on MTV last night was sneering at marriage as outdated because it was “just sad” to expect a person to love only one other person for the rest of their life.

No, Sparky, what’s sad is _you’ll never know_ the joy of loving one person for the rest of your life.

Oh, and one other thing, **stargazer** :
\<Self-hijack\>I’m offering a personal apology to you for my rotten behavior in that thread last week. I couldn’t get your address to deliver it directly.\</self-hijack\>

she landed safely in KC. Two hours late, but OK.

I did wind up having to work late yest., and I walked through the door at home JUST as she was calling to tell me she was OK. If I’d stayed ONE MINUTE later, I’d have missed her call.\*

Of course, nobody was at the airport to pick her up. She was really worried about this happening… A few months back, one of her co-workers got left stranded - he eventually had to pay out of pocket for a taxi. We can’t afford that, or car rental, and her penny-pinching company gave her no up-front _per diem_ spending money (she’s gotta rely on the on-location supervisor to buy her meals - nice, huh? ).

Anyway, when we spoke she was pretty upset at the prospect of having to spend hours at the airport waiting for someone to realize she hadn’t checked in. I suggested she call her hotel and see if it had a shuttle service. (Her mom had mentioned this to me earlier in the day when we talked about the possibility of this happening.)

Unfortunately, after I got off the phone with her I fell into a VERY sound (allright, chemically-assisted) sleep so this morning I found her mother’s voice on my answering machine saying that she’d gotten to her hotel and checked-in.

Right now I’m just hoping she finds a way to e-mail me soon.

* * *

\*Okay, say what you will, but that looks to me like evidence of SOME higher power/purpose.

[response hijack] Apology accepted. I kinda figured it was (at least partially) a “one of those moods” thing. And you’re too much fun to be in one of those moods all the time. 😉 And you did warn us… [/response hijack]

Can you afford some roses (or even only one) for when she comes home? And how 'bout cleaning the house and/or getting something all packed for the move? Can you cook? (Maybe you should talk to Zenster. Or go to [http://www.epicurious.com](http://www.epicurious.com).) I’m sure you treat her like a princess all the time, but treat her like a _queen_ the night she gets back! You can do it for little money if you’re creative enough.

Hm, maybe I oughta leave this thread’s URL lying around future-Mr. Star’s apartment for the honeymoon, if we’re going to give advice on how to impress. 😃

But I learned something - **Mrs. Tygr** threw me on the ground, sat on my chest and smacked my head until I got it through my thick skull that when I get in THAT mood I’m s’posed to come see HER an’ get a hug, rather than spewing it all over the boards. Not to worry **Tygr** ,

I’m taking good care of her in KC. We’ve gone to see Bazooka’s Showgirls, ate dinner at Hooters, and then rented a limo where she rode around town with the sunroof open, waving at the people on the street and screaming “Hello Cincinatti!” I didn’t have the heart to tell her. Man she drinks like a fish. Anyway, just wanted to let you know so you wouldn’t be too worried.
