# MS Word/Excel toolbar question

Everytime I open up MS Word or Excel, the “Reviewing” toolbar shows up at the top of the screen. I turn it off but when I open Word or Excel again, to tool bar is still there.

How do I stop this from happening and show the tool bar who’s boss?

Your normal template may be damaged. Close Word, then search your hard drive for **normal.dot** and rename any instances to **normal.old**. Word should generate a new one the next time you open it.

For Excel, try renaming the toolbar file. This is called **Excel10.xlb** in Office XP, **Excel.xlb** in Office 2000, and **Excel8.xlb** in Office 97.
