MSNBC is profiling presidential candidate Ross Perot, could his perspective help today?

:dubious: And in what election were we offered that choice?

Pretty good, actually. Thank Og we didn’t have McCain at the helm during this!

How is that Hopey Changey thing going for you now?

Oh Really? With over 40 million Americans on food stamps, 25 million unemployed, Trillions more debt, nothing that is stamped “MADE IN USA” anymore, that does not sound too good to me.

When I graduated from undergraduate college(with no debt, no student loans) I had 2 dozen employers begging me to take their lucrative job offers, and that was not atypical. I dont think today’s obami college grads are seeing the same employer welcoming arms that I saw.

You’all can have all that** “Free Trade”** and **“Hopey Changey” **that you guys voted for.

Real Unemployment Rises to 16.2% in June – 25.3 Million People

(CNSNews.com) – The real unemployment rate rose to 16.2 percent in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported on Friday, marking a return to levels not seen since January 2011.

You are Sarah Palin and I claim my five pounds.

Being too young to vote, and in a different country at that time, all I remember about H. Ross Perot is that his name is an anagram of “Short Poser”.

Didn’t he also want to jack up gas taxes $2 or $3 per gallon? That’s always a real winner with the voters there.

So your claim is that the **North America **Free Trade Agreement caused jobs to go “offshore”?

[shrug] Neither does it sound worse than 2008.

Bless you.

As an aside, I saw a fairly new minivan on the NY Thruway yesterday with a bright blue “Perot for President” bumper sticker. That’s dedication. I do still have a “Nixon Now” button in a cigar box somewhere, but it’s hard to imagine keeping a supply of bumper stickers for 20 years for sticking on your new cars. It’s the political equivalent of a 15-year-old wearing a Led Zeppelin t-shirt.

That’s nothing. During the 2008 election, I actually saw someone wearing an “I Like Ike” button. Which made Eisenhower the fourth most popular Presidential candidate around here at the time, after Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Ron Paul.

Well, he may be a nut, but he’s a very polite nut.

I actually met the guy at a social event- an engagement party of all things.

A friend of my wife’s from law school was getting married to a nanny for a filthy-rich family in Dallas (Highland Park, actually.)

Said filthy-rich family threw an engagement party for them, and wife and I packed up to go to their palatial estate (18000 square feet, a pool, a tennis court, and a garage bigger than my house) for the party.

After hanging around a little while in one wing of the house, we noticed a trim older guy and his wife come through the room we were in. I thought it looked like Ross Perot, but my wife said “Come on, why would Ross Perot be here?” and we left it at that.

About half an hour later, we went exploring. After looking around the joint and marveling at the excess, wife looks into a room and sees her friend’s sister talking to an older couple about something. Wife bursts in saying “Hey XXX! How are you! Haven’t seen you in a while!” I’m hot on her heels, and notice the older couple, who happens to be the Ross Perot-looking guy.

I turn toward the older fellow, extend my hand and say “Hello, I’m Mark <insert last name>.” And he says “Hi, I’m Ross Perot.” I introduced myself to his wife and we chatted for a minute about the house, and how they knew the engaged couple, etc… (turns out they knew her through the filthy rich couple).
