i must agree with MadPoet on dead can dance. in a similar vein, all the cocteau twins albums have proven invaluable–but especially ‘heaven or las vegas’. as a friend of mine notes, it’s sufficiently ‘swirly.’ my (ex)gf and i (during high school) found joy division was perfect. also indispensable at the moment: any underworld hooverphonic album ‘a stereophonic sound spectacular’ ---

Way back in the Stone Age, anything by Prince, Sting, Led Zeppelin, or the Cars worked for me. Now I would recommend highly Loreena McKennitt (sp?), the album with “The Mummer’s Dance” on it. The whole album is just transcendently wonderful… ---

Easily the best: any record by the Dirty 3 - no vocals, just long violin/guitar/drum songs. If you’re in a hurry: The Ramones - Rocket to Russia And I imagine the first Lucinda Williams record would be a good one, but my SO hates country music, so I guess I’ll never know. BTW - worst possible is anything by Lydia Lunch: you’re girlfriend will end up beating you up just because you’re a male (and if you’re a girl, you’ll get so angry, you’ll beat your partner up!) I have to agree with **MadPoet** and **vaporlad** on Dead Can Dance. I’ve had some really heavy spiritual trysts to their music. The soundtrack to _The Last of the Mohicans_ has some incredibly beautiful music on it, also. ---

I don’t know how long it takes you guys but one song just won’t do it, and who wants to change CD’s in the middle of something important? You could burn a set of tracks but sex is not the time to have songs like ‘Closer’ speckled with Kenny G, so that’s delicate. ---

I’m surprised no one has mentioned **UB40’s Red Red Wine.** That song was huge when I met my wife. Since it’s only about 4 minutes long, I guess side one of that album was what we boinked to. Sex and music don’t mix any long though. Our kids would know in an instant what we were doing. Blah Pepperlandgirl picked a good one Wicked Game is awesome. ---
