Mugabe called himself “the Hitler of the time” and then preceded to have his presidential guard attack striking workings, and sexually assult some of them. Damn, I’d already suggested once in the Pit that we should go after Mugabe if we were serious about “humanitarian regime change.” I thought Mugabe couldn’t get any more psycho, but I guess I was wrong. ::mad:: ---

That man has been psycho since he was born. All in favour of regime change in Zimbabwe, using military force as needed say aye. “Aye” I got to speak to a lot of Zimbabwean ex-pats in my job in NZ, and this does not suprise me at all. Shame that they are getting implicit support form other Commonwealth countries for re-entry into that organisation (eg: South Africa) ---

Wait, hang on, clarification needed there. If the regime change is mounted by a coalition made up primarily of Commonwealth and African nations, with agreement of the UN and an explicit mandate to install a cleanly-elected regime, then, yeah, go for it. If it’s yet another self-righteous US go-it-more-or-less adventure, er, no. ---

I would think that if UN intervention was decided upon, it would be better to implement it with neutral peacekeepers from countries without a stake in Zimbabwe. dude, gotta step in here and say the South African **Government** supports Bob, not necessarily the general populace. We are blessed with a president who spends more time jet setting and visiting other countries than running his own damn country. Heh, I have indirect relations in Zim (my girlfriend has family up there) and everyone not employed by the government suffers. Queue’s for things like milk and bread stretch for miles (if there are supplies). be it the few remaining white farmers, or darker skinned tribal natives everyone is at a loss. He is just a greedy egotistical maniac. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about the sovereignty of his own people, only his own, supreme power matters to him. He flys around in a private helicopter gas guzzler while the regular folk wait for hours, just to find out there is no more petrol. Yeah, muuuch more to be said, but lets leave it at that… if your venerable GWB creates a new lake Zimbabwe, he would probably be looked upon in a much more esteemed light by the general populace of many countries, including my own.
