Okay, this is my hundredth post (“and there was much rejoicing…yaaaay”) and I’ve been on this board for SEVEN MONTHS! My husband complains that I’m on the board “all the time,” and my kid whines, “when can I have a turn, Mommy? You’re always reading that STUPID BOARD!!” 100 lousy posts. So, thousand-posters, what’s your secret? Lots of “me-too” posts? Staying up all night, every night? Shamelessly flirting with half the posters? Ragging on Wildest Bill again & again? Dismissing work, exercise, family time, household chores, bathing, and TV as unneccesary activities when they interfere with SDMB time? Starting an “Ask The [me] Guy” thread, or several? (Yeah, I’m on to you, Esprix. I didn’t participate in your little post-padding scheme because I’ve had a gazillion gay roommates, and I learned all I need to know by staying up late with 'em watching Soloflex infomercials late into the night. :eek: ) I never seem to have the time to even READ all the threads that look interesting, much less REPLY to them all! And people posting to Cafe Society have time to read, go to the movies and watch TV, as well as post! So, I ask: Where do you find the time to rack up 2000 posts?! ---

I had a summer unemployed last year and a holiday this year when I couldn’t afford to go away. That’s my story. ---

I work for myself, so I don’t have to worry about that. But over 29 months, my count averages 3.6 per day. Not so bad. ---

I’m a personal assistant, so there are sometimes four or five hours A DAY when I have nothing to do because my boss is on a plane, or home sick, or in a meeting or whatever. So I just sit at work and post and post to pass the time jarbaby ---

I’m somewhere between jarbabyj and Dinsdale. I have huge amounts of time at work to post (also an assistant), and I don’t get bogged down in GD doing these things like “research” and finding “factual information” or “providing anything useful at all”. I’m here mostly to show off my love of all things Elisabeth Filarski (I’ll get you, Hasselbeck!), The West Wing, gas-related (and other bodily functions), Kansas City, Indianapolis, college football, and various other boring subjects. ---

They hardly have any work for me to do here. This has been the case at just about every job I’ve ever held–they bring me in to solve their problems, I solve them, and they forget to say “Okay, you’re done, your contract’s over. Go away.” So I sit and kill time until the bosses begin to think, “you know, that guy over there really just surfs the web all day long, doesn’t he?” “yeah, but he really fixed the hell out of those problems we were having, so let’s hang onto him for another few months…” ---

Election 2000 accounts for probably half of mine. Then I’ve also gotten involved in quite a few other debates (even tho’ I don’t bother with the religious ones at all, none of the moon hoaxes, didn’t post in the JDT foreskin chats, don’t hardly flirt on line, don’t complain about the mods every time some one gets banned, hardly bother with the abortion threads anymore… wait a second. how the hell did I get so many posts then??? ummm. blackouts? ---

I’m not in the multi-thousand range yet, but I also tend to write very long posts. Among other things, I’m the Chronicler for the DFW Dopers–the notes from our gatherings have been known to run to between 7 and 10 screens of text. Oc course, I do make brief posts sometimes, mainly in game threads, but the average post is pretty long. My secret? I type fast and don’t sleep much. ---

Ummmm…being here since before dirt was invented helps a lot, that and the occasional fun thread where I add about 50 responses…ie haiku…helps too…but mostly never leaving… ---

I’ve been here for about 20 months, and I have about 1480 posts. So that’s about 74 posts a month, or between 2 and 3 posts a day (I suck at math and don’t have a calculator, so bite me if that’s wrong.) Now that doesn’t seem so crazy, does it? Oddly, I do read tons more than I post. That strikes me as peculiar. It goes back to the maxim of the day when I started: every old-timer warned us newbies to have a 50:1 read:post ratio. Mine is about that, I think. I’m a full-time college student and I work 30 hours a week. Usually I post when I should be studying. Most of my posts came from when I was just working, though, and didn’t have a car, so I had a lot of free time at home. ---
