Now saying 6 dead and 15 injured. They have someone in custody and it is being investigated as a terrorist incident. ---

6 dead at the scene, 2 died at the hospital. Multiple serious injuries. The suspect was shot and taken into custody. ---

I work across the river in Jersey City and I can see the scene from my window. Luckily, all I can really see from here are the flashing lights of the emergency vehicles. I don’t know what to think about the fact that my main feeling is that I’m grateful that it wasn’t worse. Is this what a sustained series of terrorist attacks does to a person? ---

Immigrated in 2010 on a green card. Lived in Tampa. It’s not clear yet if he has ties to the New York area. He got out of the truck carrying a pellet and paint ball gun. ---

My son is pretty upset. This one is really hitting home for him because he’s spent a good bit of time in that area and along that bike path. On 9/11, I was pregnant with him, and didn’t even know it yet. So much terrorism in his lifetime… ---

If we are going to actually solve this problem, we need to start by actually knowing what the problem is (mass murder), rather than the non-problem (Islam). Tomorrow, Fox News, Breitbart, and Stormfront will all be running more coverage of this guy than the last five non-Muslim mass murders combined, and the cycle will start again. It needs to end. Part of that is standing up to assholes who shout “Pure Islam” as the response to these events.
