Ok, this is really freaking me out. I am going to call the girl who I does my waxing and find out if this is true! If I can recall, though, I think she uses a new wooden stick for each dip of wax (that would matter, right?). If not, geez, I’m gonna have to re-think those brazilians. Scary…and I’m ashamed to not have known or thought of this before! ---

Don’t go depending in the person who provides the service to answer your questions about how safe it is. And no, a new wooden stick (or plastic one) for each person probably wouldn’t matter if the wax is being re-used. There seem to be some question of how hot the wax needs to be heated for it to be safe – i.e., to fill all the little buggers that might infect you. I don’t know the answer to this. Your girl should be able to answer what the heating temperature of the wax is, and whether the wax is re-used among customers. Personally, I wouldn’t rely on her answers to any safety issues. ---

Missed edit, ETA: Heck, Health Canada warns you not to share _nail clippers_ with someone whose got hepatitis, let alone share a pot of wax that may have droplets of someone else’s blood in it that’s going to be spread around your hoo-ha . ---

No blood in the wax- a little blood might be on the fabric strip used to rip your hair out by the roots, but that never goes back into the wax vat- only the applicator stick, which is she was competant, doesn’t need to go over the same area twice! 😉 ---

Ah, I didn’t realize they would use multiple sticks per person, so a contaminated stick or wax dribblets would never get back into the pot. Simply changing sticks _between_ people would do no good at all. ---
