I’m at work. AGAIN.

I have worked 20 hours OT in the past week. I’m tired.

We bought Cranky Jr his first bike today. I mean, he has stupid trike-like things, but this is like a dinky-sized big boy bike with training wheels. Even though it’s meant for kids 18 months and up, his feet don’t touch the pedals (he’s got my short legs). But he loves it anyway.

Have you ever seen a bike with 10" wheels? I laugh just to look at it.

**Cranky:** My daughter’s “boyfriend” has a bike like that. Cuter than cute, it is! 😃

I got my VCR going today. Cable’s off, and the VCR needed a head cleaning, but we didn’t have a head cleaner. Borrowed one from a friend, but hers was broken. So finally today I bought a head cleaner. Had to run it twice, but at least now my kids can watch their videos. Got _Blue’s Big Treasure Hunt_ on right now. They’re happy. 🙂

Yesterday, I took some pictures of the ton of rain we got from Tropical Storm Gabrielle, and happily downloaded them to my PC. Finished, set camera to one side, went about business. 20 minutes later, hubby wanted to take a picture of the dog 'cause she was doing something “cute”. Camera is no longer functional!!! $600 for that thing, plus all the accessories, etc!!! \*\*

Trouble, my guess is that you just ran down the batteries. Digital cameras go through batteries at a ferocious rate unless you’re using rechargeables. So if you just had alkalines in the camera, a few pics were probably enough to KO them. Buy a couple of sets of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) rechargeables instead.

\*\*You want mundania? You can’t handle my Mundania! \*\*

My 3.5 year old started soccer last week. Its for 3-4 year old kids. I view it as a chance for him to play with other kids and (this is key here) tire him out.

What does he do? Lays on the grass the entire time. I refer to him as " The Daisy Picker. "

I’ve also signed him up for dance because I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for me to piss my pants watching 3-4 year olds dancing. If he balks here, I am pulling out all stops and bringing the one thing he cannot resist: A POLKA.
My husband has a cold. Please send him bales of pity for he gets none from me.

Some Mundane Things of the Week:

[li] Bought a pair of shoes for my sister’s wedding.[/li](We also bought my father a blue, long-haired fright wig because he wants to wear it at dinner the night before the wedding. I wish he wouldn’t…)

[li] Decided to make a new fall wreath for my door instead of buying one; I’m psyched about getting the supplies and doing it tomorrow![/li]
[li] Changed the tablecloth in the dining room.[/li]
[li] Dressed up in costume and took my parents to the Renaissance Festival.[/li]
Went to a bunch of cosmetics counters in several different department stores and sprayed myself with like four different kinds of cologne. (I ended up like the olfactory equivalent of that one Easter egg you just _have_ to dip into every color you have, when you’re dyeing them. Bleah.)

Odd that Creaky mentions the Renaissance Festival, because I spent today at a picnic for my husband’s RC club, and all the way there and back I listened to CDs I got at a Ren Faire (Minstrels of Mayhem, YEA!) When I got home, I was still enjoying the music, so I dragged the CDs in from the car and listened some more. And since I already had the mood music thing going, I made some Renaissance style jewelry.

I also baked a cake (for the aforementioned picnic), answered some email and laughed my butt off at **ShirleyUjest** ’s post about 3-4 year olds dancing.

I win the prize for the most mundane thing of all–a head cold (along with Mr. Ujest–I suppose we can share custody of the trophy).

Yes, all this week while the world has been whirling madly on its axis, while civilizations are crumbling, hearts are breaking, and a New World Order is evolving, I’ve been sitting here blowing my nose.

Over and over and over.

I suppose when World War Three starts, I’ll have the stomach flu.

Baby GAP. I was just in there buying socks (Syno Nym is obsessed with brightly patterned socks…makes for some interesting outfits) and noticed that they have toddler sized belts that are adjustable. I can’t find them on the website, but I believe thet were $10.50.

Syno shoved a Cheeto up her nose last week. I managed to get her to blow a small chunk out. I debated taking her to the ER but noticed it was starting to dissolve, so passed on it. She still had orange snot the next morning. Heh.

Spent the afternoon with the school guidance officer and the assistant principal. _Very_ proud of myself I only yelled at them once.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the concept that my 8 yo can read something, answer questions, get the questions right and according to the school still not _comprehend_ it. I’m also struggling with why if he can do the grade 3 tests with 100% mastery, why can he not have interesting grade 4 maths? He’s in a composite class. They wouldn’t even have to move his desk!

We’re looking for a new school. ::sigh:: I was hoping to get a year or two out of this one before I wore out my welcome but the writing’s on the wall. They know nothing about kids like mine - here’s a clue - just because he has dyslexia and dysgraphia, he’s not stupid! And if they would just grade jump him one measly year in one measly subject, the pay off in his behaviour would be enormous.

OTOH the teacher is gonna get in trouble for telling him he had to repeat the year :😏:

Thanks, but I tried new batteries. Problem was a little deeper than that. Actually what happened is that the motor that pushes the lense assembly in and out freaked out on me and I had to remove the batteries to stop it going in and out, in an out…😕 Anyway, got the new camera now and it’s all good to go again!

Northeast Florida mundanity - after TS Gabrielle pushed out to sea and took all the rain along (Oh, the rain - my back yard is a swamp…) we were able to open all the windows in the house for the first time in months. We slept with them open - not only was it cool and not humid, but I awoke to birdsongs! I could lie in bed and watch the cardinals at my feeder. The house is closed up again today, but for a brief period, we got a sneak preview of autumn…

I think I have **Duck Duck Goose** beat on Mundania… I burnt my tongue on hot jambalaya this weekend.

And my little dog, Lucy, hates horses. She thinks they are all evil, and wants to kill them. We saw some on the trail this weekend and Lucy’s hair stood up and she was barking like a crazy thing. It was kinda funny.

**Persephone** , instead of a belt, have you seen little clip-on suspenders? (Or braces, depending on where you live. Grampa calls them “gallouses” but he’s real old, and kinda crazy.) Soupo had a pair and they were tha only things that would hold up his pants. He has no butt.

You could also go to the fabric store and get a length of nylon webbing and a snap-buckle and make your own belt. Any color you like for about $3.00.

My niece has this same problem. She’s 8 now (or will be tomorrow), and over 4 ft tall… but she could still wear a 4T in the waist. My suggestions are overalls, suspenders (Spawnling had a pair with a cute little bear face on the back that she absolutely loved for years) or those little skirty-shorts things…(my niece wears them all year, just adds heavy tights in the winter). We also bought the toddler stretchy-belt thingys… (usually found in the boys section for some reason), but she didn’t like them much.

Overalls aren’t much more expensive then regular jeans (in the smaller sizes, usually just a dollar or two… if that), and so much easier to size. When we first got them for my niece, we were worried she’d have trouble with the straps at potty time, but after the first couple times, she figured out how to manage them without help.

Good luck!

Ummmm , well I bought a thong yesterday. I will never buy one again, the LIONsob finds giving me a wedgie with it amusing, I however disagree.

It wasn’t too bad actually (until the wedgies started that is.) it took me about 30 minutes to get used to it.

OK, that’s my MPSIMS & TMI post for the day all rolled up in one.

Just dropped the Dianasaur off for her first day of preschool. After her initial joy at going, well, it seemed we were just cramping her style. Oh, she gave us hugs & kisses, but she was way more interested in playing with all the cool stuff.

Thank you. Thank you very much!

Here’s another anecdote from _The Demented World of Syno Nym_:

She got sick yesterday. Threw up four times yesterday afternoon, so I was sort of indulging her. Putting her to bed last night, she wanted me to lay with her while wearing a hat of her choice. Of course I fell asleep there.

I woke up at 2AM being choked by the elastic on a set of pink, child-size, Minnie Mouse ears.

I’m thankful I convinced her the flower-shaped Barbie sunglasses clashed.
