My only question is: How come Statler and Waldorf are one entry whereas Wayne and Wanda, who are also always seen together, are two? I think the brackets have been tampered with by a certain American eagle who’s attempting to have a sophisticated performer win over all the weirdos. Anyway…it’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to give my choices in the Muppet game tonight: **Jim Henson Division** 1. Kermit the Frog 2. Grover 3. Elmo 4. The Swedish Chef 5. Marvin Suggs 6. Link Hogthrob 7. Crazy Harry 8. Lew Zealand **Frank Oz Division** 1. Cookie Monster 2. Ernie 3. Oscar the Grouch 4. Gonzo 5. Animal 6. Beaker 7. The Newsman 8. Lots of tough matchups here, but some shoo-ins as well. ---
My only question is: How come Statler and Waldorf are one entry whereas Wayne and Wanda, who are also always seen together, are two? I think the brackets have been tampered with by a certain American eagle who’s attempting to have a sophisticated performer win over all the weirdos.
The answer is: I’m arbitrary and capricious. And I didn’t think it through enough, I guess. Also, by the time I was poking around for the final dozen or so muppets, I was scraping near the bottom of the barrel. Splitting up Wayne and Wanda meant I didn’t have to figure out who the 65th most prominent muppet was. And I just couldn’t bring myself to split up Statler and Waldorf. Oh, and while I’m here: I forgot to set a deadline for Round One. I’ll say the end of the week – midnight on the 4th of July. ---

**Jim Henson Division** 1. Kermit the Frog 2. Grover 3. Elmo Don’t think he’ll make the Sweet Sixteen, but I’ll give him props in the first round for popularity. 4. The Swedish Chef 5. Marvin Suggs Muppaphone; 'nuff said. 6. Link Hogthrob Toughest choice of the first round. Going with Link because Strangepork lost to Bunsen Honeydew. 7. Crazy Harry 8. Lew Zealand An obscure favorite of mine, but he’s not doing well in the voting so far. C’mon, he throws fish and calls Kermit “Mr. The Frog”, how can you not love that? **Frank Oz Division** 1. Cookie Monster 2. Ernie 3. Oscar the Grouch 4. Gonzo 5. Animal 6. Beaker 7. The Newsman 8. Floyd Pepper **Dave Goelz Division** 9. Big Bird Like Elmo, not a personal favorite, but he advances against weak competition. 10. Count von Count 11. Fozzie Bear 12. Statler and Waldorf 13. Scooter 14. Janice 15. Guy Smiley 16. Robin the Frog Gets the nod for his rendition of _They Call the Wind Mariah_. **Richard Hunt Division** 1. Miss Piggy 2. Bert 3. Sam the Eagle 4. Dr. Bunson Honeydew 5. Uncle Deadly 6. Mahna Mahna Easy choice. From the 11th seed, could be the Cinderella of the tournament. 7. Gladys the Cow 8. Sweetums ---
