This won’t mean anything to most people, but I’m concerned for my health during the upcoming Lions rugby tour of New Zealand. This guy is the single most biased commentator I’ve ever heard. Grant Nisbett seems like the paragon of even-handedness beside him. So, please God, if you listen to just one of my prayers this year, make it this one. Make sure Murray is indisposed before the Test series starts. Otherwise, I will not be held responsible for what I throw at the telly, or any intemperate language in front of my impressionable 9 year old. ---

There these two teams were hoofing it up and down the park, and our Murray could only see one team doing it. Yes, you’ve guessed it - the side that didn’t come from New Zealand. It gets ten times worse when the opposition comes from the British Isles. And let’s pray that no Northern Hemisphere refs are allowed to referee the Tests. Poor old Jonathan Kaplan from South Africa copped enough stick on Saturday. Thank God Ed Morrison has retired, or Murray would blow a gasket. ---

Free range oysters – there ya go, another ad promo line for Mayor Shadbolt, bless his cotton socks. 🙂 I don’t actually follow sport, so while I’ve heard of Mexted, and maybe heard a dose of his dulcets from time to time in passing – sorry, I wouldn’t have an opinion. But Kiwi commentators _can_ be one-eyed, just as Brit commentators can (or any other nationality, for that matter). ---

…on a hard-fought victory over the Lions. Spenser made the difference in the second half. Got to love the blond fellow playing for the Maoris. MOM of course, who else? Murray Mexted. A couple of classic moments that no doubt will pop up on the ‘Best of Murrey at the Mic’ DVD: 1. Ref Steve Walsh penalises Lions prop Julian White at a scrum. Mexted: “Yes, White has a reputation as a destructive scrummager”. Second half, ref Steve Walsh penalises Maori prop at a scrum. Mexted: “He’s just guessing”. 2. Maori skipper argues with ref. Mexted: "Walsh should listen to him - he’s the captain.’ Co-commentator: “The skipper’s only entitled to question why the decision was made”. Mexted: “Walsh loves giving directions - he doesn’t want to listen”. Second half, Walsh tells the arguing Maori skipper to get on with it. Mexted: “He ought to calm down”. At last, someone’s had a word in Murray’s ear. But no. “Steve Walsh needs to calm down”. You can’t make this stuff up. Roll on the Tests.
