So, you’re saying that the T Rex rode motorcycles?

That would explain a spiked German Helmet. But, how would he hold his flaming sword and still be able to steer while chasing Adam and Eve out of the Garden?

Sure 🙂

Which is, of course, a mistaken assumption. Mammals and reptiles are built differently. _T. rex_ did not have a sternum and lacked clavicles, for example. Both of these conditions would have likely made _T. rex_ a poor bodybuilder in terms of raw arm strength, but it more than made up for any such deficiencies with a large head and big feet. And despite the arms being relatively small and poorly anchored by mammalian standards, they were still heavily muscled, as **Kyla** mentioned. This implies that they were far from vestigial, and could hardly be considered useless, as well.

Oh, and before anyone asks the inevitable “Well, what _were_ the arms used for, then?”, the answer should be obvious: they were used to wield Swords of Divine Wrath against the wicked.

I opened a thread asking what the T. Rex could do with those arms, and a definitive conclusion was reached. They could throw 'em in the air, and wave 'em like he just didn’t care.

Now, what would a t-rex prefer, the cheese kind with meat, or the chocolate stuff with strawberries? :dubious:

Don’t be ridiculous: The cheesey kind, of course. Strawberries are just too small for the poor t-rex to taste. \<nodnodnodnodnodnodnodnod\>

Well hell, we know he didn’t drive a penis car (where would he put his tail?). Maybe it was so big he didn’t need to have long arms. Does definitive proof exist to contradict (heh) that?

Okay, fine. T. Rex can _lift_ the sword. But would his shoulders rotate enough so as to allow him to swing it? I think, just to be on the safe side, that we should have T. Rex on the motorcycle with the pointy German helmet, and Marc Bolan in the sidecar with the flaming sword. That way, all our bases are covered.

**dropzone** - Don’t worry about it. We’ll fight against ignorance together.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I didn’t think natural select per se was a theory, but rather a mechanism that is part of the theory of evolution.

> [@Apos](#):
>
> Artificial selection? Lamarckism?

Lamarckism concerns the transmission of traits from parent to child, and would not affect selection. IIRC, Darwin’s mechanism for ttransmission was somewhat Lamarckian.

However artifical selection is a possible mechanism. If we discovered species in the fossil record as unable to survive in the wild as many of our domestic animals, we would have to wonder about natural selection as the sole mechanism for selection. I believe the definition of evolution allows for artificial selection, since the distribution of alleles certainly changes, but finding this would be revolutionary. If we disappeared, and some aliens visited earth and dug up fossils from our time, I’d suspect that they could detect the hand of intelligence from the remains of chickens and poodles.

Also, individuals “unfit to survive” might survive and reproduce - they just get lucky. Statistically, however, traits not conferring a reproductive advantage will disappear. Perhaps that is another response to the so-called tautology.

Are creationists not allowed to have a museum? It sounds pretty clear that this museum is religiously oritented and not scientific oriented.

We still have freedom of religion in this country right?

“Lamarckism”, as it is popularly characterized, is really just “use and disuse, coupled with inheritance of acquired characters”. However, these were actually but a minor part of his evolutionary theory. Rather than write a lengthy post here in the midst of a discussion about flaming-sword wielding tyrannosaurs, I will simply provide [this link](http://www.clas.ufl.edu/users/fgregory/Lamarck.htm), which goes into Lamarck’s theory in detail.

Of course they are! Has anyone in this thread implied otherwise? But we also have freedom of speech and sane people are allowed to mock creationists and their stupid ideas.

I cannot understand the fundies love of the idea that they are persecuted victims. You guys are winning, for Og’s sake!

To say the least. Anyway, I don’t recall anyone in this thread demanding that it be closed down.

Yeah. Freedom of speech, too. And I think this utterly absurd ‘museum’ is one of the silliest things I’ve heard of in a very long time. If you don’t like that, stick in your ear, or anywhere else it might fit.
