_My Bump_, by the Black Eyed Peas. Just terrible. Incredibly terrible. What makes it worse is they have the ability to make some reasonably catchy songs but that one… what the hell? ---

Robert Wyatt. Recommended to me by Roland Orzabal (the real one). Hoooooooly crap. Holy crap. Sorry, Roland, but…I mean…holy crap. There’s just not much else that can be said. If you simply must subject yourself to it, I recommend the song ‘The Duchess’ as a particularly horrendous starting point. ---

I can only think of one other to add, but it does not compare to some of those already mentioned. Not bad enough to kill one’s self rather than listen to, but bad enough to be worthwhile shootin the radio with your .45: “Feelings.” … Feelings, whoa, whoa, whoa, feelings…" WHOAH! WHOAH! STOP IT!! Bobby Goldsboro’s stuff was truly sould-killing, but hey! He did a GREAT imitation of a frog! Absolutely #1 in frog imitations. No one else even close. Nope. Nobody. Ever. 😃 ---

Although Minnie Ripperton was touted as having one of the greatest vocal ranges, or perhaps it was the highest pitch, of any singer, at least for that time, that thing she did called _Loving You Is Easy 'Cause It’s Wonderful_ (or whatever the real title was – and I really don’t want to know) where she ends with that dog-summoning wail was enough to make me leave the house when it came on. Unfortunately my wife liked it so it always stayed on even after I screamed in agony. ---

A couple of years ago, one of the English teachers I was working with came in with what she called a “great song in English!” She wanted to teach it to the junior high students, and asked me to transcribe the words. At first, the “singer” was mumbling so much, I couldn’t make out parts, so I went to the computer room to look it up online. It was Wayne Wonder, “No Letting Go,” and in part the lyrics talk about how he’s confident/grateful that his girlfriend will stick with him “Though I made you cry by my doings/With Keisha and Annesha but that/Was back then”. I managed to talk the teacher out of using that song. Gah. My world was a better place when I hadn’t heard of this song. ---

An old boss of mine emailed each person on the team and asked them to list two of their favorite songs. She then compiled them into a CD as a Christmas gift. This CD came up in the rotation this morning. One of my co-worker’s favorite song was an A(backwards B)(backwards B)A song. I know a lot of people like 'em, but I can live the rest of my life without ever hearing another one. ---
