Geez, there’s a song getting far too much airtime now titled, I think, “How Could This Happen To Me”. At least that’s what I assume it’s called since most of the nauseating whininess seems to repeat that. Gah. ---

The night goes on as I’m fading away. I’m sick of this life…” is that it? Because if it is, you’re thinking of “Untitled” by Simple Plan. Anywho, when I was depressed I always listen to Boyz II Men or some other RnB. If not, I’d listen to some old Elvis songs. My favorite is, “Don’t Cry Daddy” ---

I’ll go along with the sad sacks that mentioned The Smiths and Depeche Mode. In fact, I spent many hours listening to The Queen Is Dead and Black Celebration just before one of my suicide attempts. And no, I in no way think there’s a connection. I just loved to wallow in the gloom that I perceived in those albums. Today, I still love them, and though I’m clinically depressed, they don’t have a negative affect on me at all. Now when I want a good cry, Sarah McLachlan can really kick my ass. ---

The Doors, particularly their more cryptic stuff. (“Hyacinth House” was a particular favorite of mine, probably because I was under the delusion that I was the only person in the world who Understood it.) And Bob Dylan, but his music at least wears well, so I’m not particularly ashamed of my tastes in that department. ---
