In the 1987 reissue of the Alan Parsons Project’s “Tales of Mystery and Imagination,” they added an extended Ian Bairnson guitar solo to “The Raven.” I always liked the song, but the guitar solo made it much better by far.

Back in 1992 a group called Oui III had a very minor hit with a song called “It’s a Fine Day”. One of the b-sides on the CD single was an a cappella mix, with the instruments faded out; top rave duo Orbital took the bare vocals, edited them, and stuck new music in the background. The result was “Halcyon”, which is basically their masterpiece (and that video would be a good thing to play as the world ends, as a reminder of what we had and lost).

Boz Scaggs had a (I think) minor hit with, “We’re All Alone,” (Urban Cowboy soundtrack?). Plus I believe he wrote it. Rita Coolidge had a bigger hit with same song. Somebody spliced the two versions together and I think it became an additional hit (not really sure if it was as big as, or bigger than, either original hit.). Facts may be slightly screwed up–memory is a funny thing.

“We’re All Alone” is a song written by Boz Scaggs, who introduced it on his 1976 album Silk Degrees; in 1977, “We’re All Alone” was a top-ten hit for Rita Coolidge in the US and the UK. …

Reportedly the concurrent availability of both the Boz Scaggs original and the Coolidge version of “We’re All Alone” at radio stations moved some disc jockeys to splice together the two tracks into one unofficial duet - perhaps the earliest instance of that phenomenon.[citation needed]

So there was no release and therefore no hit.
