> Everybody remembers the Beatles with their “All You Need Is Love” televised event, but they also made little-known promotional shorts for “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Hey Jude.” The former was a bit of moody surrealistic cinema à la Buñuel. The latter was just the band playing (most of it was nothing but a closeup of McCartney’s face, I guess it’s obvious who directed that one). Has anyone else ever seen these?

I’ve seen the Strawberry Fields one, and its mate Penny Lane (both on tele, and once in a cinema as filler during a 6 hour run of Beatles’ films back in 1980).

The funny thing is, when I saw them on the box, it was as filler on the then-independent WPHL (ch 17) in Philadelphia when we were living near there in the mid 70s…one show had ended early, and there was something like 10 minutes to fill, and to my and my oldest’s brother’s surprise, they ran these two shorts.
