TV shows would sometimes make their own unofficial music videos which the artist almost certainly had nothing to do with, like [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcJ0RgBNuEw) Top of the Pops made for Bowie’s “Knock on Wood”, or [this one](https://vimeo.com/65539679) the Old Grey Whistle Test made for Zep’s “Trampled Underfoot”. ---

[Night Flight](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Flight_(TV_series)) preceded MTV by a couple of months. It showed on the USA Network cable channel late at night. It was a mix of videos and other content. ---
