Lately, a lot of Oum Kolthoum, particularly [Baeed Anak](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjziPpZG_cw). My recording of Baeed Anak is around 40 minutes long (the lady was epic); the youtube clip is only 6 minutes of the performance. ---

The new Peter Murphy single “I Spit Roses” is available as a free download at Amazon right now, so I’ve been listening to it. (Bauhaus split up again.) “Roses” is interesting, it seems to fall somewhere between Bauhaus and his usual solo sound. I’m also listening to Diorama, which is German Industrial-ish dance. Also the new Duran Duran, which is very fun. ---

Have they been forgotten in the mists of time already? I beg to differ, Steely Dan is one of the most awesome bands in the history of music, selling millions upon millions of records, winning a Grammy for record of the year, and is, IMO, a virtual vertabrae of the backbone of rock. Or rather jazz/rock. I think their music is going to live on as classic, because it will never sound ‘dated’. I’m all into listening to Lady Gaga lately, and may bring my laptop over to my 80-something mom’s house so we can watch her together on the youtubes. 🆒 ---
