I too dislike Mel Gibson and Dennis Miller. I used to be a big fan of both, but then they revealed their true colors.

Another one I really really liked and now can’t hardly stand is Meg Ryan. I just don’t hear anything good about her and every time I see a photo of her with John Mellencamp and his ever present cigarette, I imagine she smells bad too.

I’ve already named Di Niro, but in music I haven’t enjoyed anything Paul McCartney has done post Wings & even the Wings stuff I’m sort of 50-50 on. Mull of Kyntyre is one of my most hated songs & my favourite Wings song “Medicine Jar” is sung by Jimmy McCulloch

> Far be it from me to defend an asshole like Ted Nugent, but my understanding is that the phony speaker cabinet thing has been routine at big rock shows for years, and wearing hearing protection onstage is simply good sense.

Yeah, but if it’s too loud for the musicians, it’s TOO FUCKING LOUD. That particular show garnered noise complaints from people a mile away from the stadium.

This is going back aways, but when Sam Kinison first came on the scene, he was, for about a year or so, the funniest standup in the world. With success came self-indulgence, and the desire not to develop and grow but simply to top his own gross-out excesses. Soon he was as wide as a garage and going onstage with a pair of leather chicks with chains around their necks. (We won’t even discuss his version of “Wild Thing.”) I can’t remember an artist in any medium falling so quickly into shtick and self-parody.

When I was a teen I loved Paul McCartney. Now I like very little of what he’s done since about 1968, and only a fraction of what he did before then. Maybe he did die.

> And as for Dobbyn it’s not really his fault that ‘Loyal’ got thrashed to death by the yachting guys. I just hope he’s got huge amounts of royalties for it. I still rate _Lament for the Numb_ as the best NZ album ever.

I hadn’t heard of Dave Dobbyn until a few months ago but saw that he was doing a joint gig with Don McGlashan, who I like a lot. Went along and was thoroughly impressed. It was a 2nd night put on at very short notice at a tiny venue because the first night was sold out. They alternated between lead vocals so every second song was one of Dobbyn’s. And a lot of the songs they sang had been chosen by the other person!
Sort of a joint greatest hits set, I expect. [Setlist](https://www.flickr.com/photos/17270214@N05/11322376266/in/set-72157607139878362/)

Will add my voice to haters of Mel Gibson and Eddie Murphy.

Gibson was one of my favorite movie stars, churning out enjoyable action flicks every few years.
Dude was handsome and seemingly pretty funny. And then it turns out that’s he’s a total jerk.

Murphy was the funniest man in the world for a few years and then he just turned into this middle of the road funnyman. So disappointing.

My new nominee would be Rod Stewart who can be added to the list of rockers who used to be amazing, but chased the dollar. I would argue that the distance between his height and his lowest ebb is the greatest of the all the fallen rock stars.
