# musicians and their choruses ...

i was just wondering-in an artists final copy-if they use the same (perfect) recording of a chorus and rerun it for each additional chorus, or do they make use of differently recorded choruses?
did that make sense? hope so … it probably goes both ways huH? answer this and my life is complete

I understand what you’re saying. I’d imagine that _somebody_ has done it before…
I’ve fronted a couple of bands, and recorded in a couple high end of low budget studios. We never did what you’re talking about, mostly because it was too complicated to do with the equipment we had available (and in punk rock, less is more.)
What I _would_ do, however, is sing the verses and choruses on two seperate tracks, so I wouldn’t run out of breath. It’s apparently an old trick.

Its happens a lot more now that people such as myself use computer based recording(more and more albums are being recorded this way). You can just highlight a section and cut and paste it.

I recall reading an interview in _Guitar_ magazine several years ago with Def Leppard, around the time the “Hysteria” album was out. They did exactly what you describe–nailed the choruses once, then “flew them in” to the necessary parts of the songs. They did the same with some guitar parts.
So, some bands do, some don’t. Some like to record everything live in-studio. All the bands I’ve ever been in have recorded basic tracks, then built up from there, and we’ve always performed each chorus separately rather than flying them in.
