the Great Rock & Roll Swindle (released in 1980, but a great indictment of 1970s punk rock)

Ooooh, these are great guys! Here’s what I’ve got in addition to the above that I haven’t seen before…

  • Gauntlet
  • Pete’s Dragon – I’ve always wanted to see this, yet somehow it’s kept falling through the cracks
  • The Last of Sheila – due to another recent thread, this is already in my que
  • Uptown Saturday Night
  • High Anxiety
  • Phantom of the Paradise – if this is like RHPS, I can’t wait to get my hands on it
  • Last Remake of Beau Geste
  • The Boys In the Band – wanted this forever…
  • Panic In Needle Park – seen parts, but again I adore Pacino
  • Fritz the Cat – HAVE TO SEE THIS!!, even if I don’t like Crumb
  • La Planète Sauvage
  • The Sugarland Express
  • **The Great Waldo Pepper ** – is this the one with Duvall?
  • Day of the Locust
  • **La Cage Aux Folles ** – not the original :frowning:
  • The Great Rock & Roll Swindle
Notes on other notable mentions: Willy Wonka has ruled my world for a long time and Wilder is god in that. As much as I like Depp, he didn’t even come close. Next, I devoured Agatha Christie as a kid like there was no tomorrow, TGG ruined romance for me. I always wanted to be taken to dinner on a rooftop (seriously)! I’ve seen Grease close to 50 times in the theatre and used to dress up in the whole 50s garb constantly when I was 10. Wonder what the school thought? In reality, I was a Bad News Bear who had a crush on Chevy Chase (!), specifically because of Foul Play. Oh my.

'Bout Star Trek, I’ve been done to death with that as a result of marriage. I’m not sure I could willingly watch any of them, even if they’re from the 70s. Sorry. :o

I do believe that Caligula was one of the first “dirty” (well I mean, it’s not like I’ve seen any since then :stuck_out_tongue: ) movies I’d watched. Needless to say, as someone who was still incredibly naive, I was disappointed. Perhaps I should check it out again if for no other reason than the camp factor. Wasn’t it backed by Penthouse or something?

Car Wash (workin’ at the car wash) was a trip! Another classic in the music category from that time.

Shampoo = Swinger to me. Just I can’t remember how old I was…

And because of Norma Rae, I always had an overwhelming desire to jump up on a cafeteria table and shout about injustice. Plus, the bandanna was groovy too.

Then there was the fact that I asked for a shag haircut sometime in my early 20s because I was all counter culture and wanted to ape Jane Fonda. Didn’t get Donald Sutherland back then though. I thought Carnal Knowledge was daring and artsy. I still crave all the bleakness from back then too. I’d already JUST HAD TO RENT Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Network and Looking for Mr. Goodbar. I just loved me some social issues with heaping doses of awkwardness. Which I absolutely refuse to believe contributes in anyway to my depression now. So there.
Anyhow everyone, I so appreciate all of this. If anyone is still out there with more, I haven’t given up listening or scribbling.
[P.S. I just realized how much I futzed up that last post. Oh Og! I suppose I didn’t have enough to drink.]

The New and Improved Superman writes:

> La Planète sauvage (“the Savage Planet” - 1973)

This is the same movie as the one I referred to as The Fantastic Planet.
