Mustaches taboo?

Of course she changed her tune after seeing his two bits. HEE HEE HAA HAAA HAW HAWWW

An interesting book for those hirstute and not: One Thousand Beards.

The Cincinnati Reds didn’t lift their ban on mustaches and facial hair until 1999.

Alex Trebek has look like a sad little drowned mouse to me ever since he shaved his moustache off.

Agreed. Horrible decision.

I am blessed (or cursed, depending on your perspective) with a baby face. Even at 48, if I shaved off my beard and moustache, I’d look ridiculously younger.

Well, except for the seeming ever increasing grey hair.

Yep, mustaches are coming back. Spread the word.

Do the Peace Corps programs have examples of some such countries? Off the top of my had, I can’t think of a country that would be more averse to facial hair than people are in the USA, where, in my experience, the clean-shaven look is still preferred. Unless perhaps some Far East countries?

Beards were big in the Navy for a while but now they are banned. They allow mustaches now.

They are. I’m at the start of Gen Y and I’ve noticed mustaches (including rather cute retro 70s ones) appearing on guys in their 20s, along with fuller (non-goatee) beards. It’s not really common but is a lot more common than it was.

Yeah, I’d say full beards are more common with the early Gen-Y/late Gen-X crowd than moustaches alone.

Yep. I think too many of us have dads with mustaches and don’t see it as cool. It’s just not an option for many of us.

I don’t know how many of you remember, but mustaches were considered gay during much of the 70s and 80s. They were part of the urban gay “clone” look.

This is not true, at least not now. It may have been frowned upon at one time to have a beard and not be military or former military, but nowadays beards are ok. Although why anyone would have a beard in 90 degree heat is beyond me.
