# Muted category still shows under Latest?

Trying out the mute function for categories, and a few P&E threads are still showing up under Latest despite my settings:

Not bad for the number of threads there, but I’d prefer my settings to work completely. Anything I should try?

We’ve gone around this a couple times. Those _may_ be threads that you are tracking because you participated in them. The logic being that your general setting to mute P&E is overridden by your specific setting that you want to watch thread 12345 because you participated in it.

Notice that depending on your personal settings, “participated” can mean “posted to” or it can mean “spent more than a couple minutes reading”.

My advice would be to go into one of the P&E threads that Latest is showing you and look at the tracking status at the bottom. If it’s not [Normal], change it to [Normal] then close the tab.

Then refresh the Latest page and see if that thread has disappeared. If so, that’s your fix. You’ll need to play whack-amole on these P&E-but-also-participated threads for a few days until every P&E thread you’re tracking either comes up when somebody adds a post to it then gets whacked by you, or it dies of old age never to be revived and seen again.
