Mutiny on the Queen Mary 2!

Or rather the Queen Mary’s Revenge.

No word yet from my pals. I don’t actually think Conrad takes a computer with him, and Matthias never touches the damn things, so we may just have to wait till they reach New York…

The ship is on a 38-day journey, not all of the passengers. If there are 1000 passengers boarding in Rio, surely there are close to 1000 passengers disembarking at Rio too? Perhaps including many who only paid for a Flroida->Rio trip?

And the main complaint seems to be that they announced the cancellation of two ports of call after they left Florida. Shouldn’t they have been told before getting underway and given a chance to cancel the trip?

Actually, Queen Mary 2 does have classes. There are two classes for suites (Queens Grill and Princess Grill), and another class for the plebes in the staterooms. There are actually portions of the ship reserved for the exclusive use of the Queens Grill passengers, and each of the three classes has separate dining facilities.

The ship hold nearly 3000 passengers. It’s the largest cruise ship in the water today. It’s too big to go through the Panama Canal, that’s why this jaunt is around Tierra Del Fuego.
From what I’ve read, here and elsewhere, they are all in it for the whole 38. I suppose there could be some short ride passengers. But the majority are not going to know how to dress themselves when they get home
I barely remembered after just a 12 day.

The ninjas wouldn’t stand a chance.

Listen, I saw “Titanic”, ok? If I cannot be assured that the riff-raff will be kept behind flimsy accordion-expanding iron gates so that my delicate sensibilities won’t be sullied with their malodorous effluvia, why what the hell would I even want to BOOK passage??

Then again, as MilTan points out, there are physical class separations. Oh, thank goodness !! ( fans self with $ 500.00 bills, which went out of vogue just about the time this mentalit did. We hope. )

Heard yesterday from my pal Conrad. He and his uncle and everybody else aboard QM2 got a FREE cruise. One-hundred-effing-percent refund. Gracious indeed of Cunard Lines, and a good incentive for them to look into that dicky propshaft before next they weigh anchor.

As I suspected, they could have given a tinker’s cuss if QM2 had stayed out 38 weeks, let alone days. They were taking it easy in the grand manner. And not paying dime one for it all, irrespective of gratuities, extras and the like. Good Og, I envy them.

Since my Mum and Dad are going to be amongst the next batch of passengers, I have some knowledge. They are going to offer a reduced number of stops, but they are also offering money back on the ticket price to compensate. M&D are looking forward to the saved money (they still get the full 38 days on board the ultra luxury cruise liner )
