I had my cataract surgery this week. It went fine. Anyone interested in more info, perhaps in anticipation of a surgery?
No, but I am intrested in your welfare.
How are you?
I hadn’t been able to see anything but shdows with my right eye for several years, so I had no depth perception. I would reach for things and miss by a few inches and had to be careful on steps. Got used to it but then the left eye’s vision began dropping below the 20/20 it had been for so long so I decided it was time. The cataract was “rock hard” according to the very experienced surgeon and it took him a half hour to breakit up with the ultra sound process that was used. The sedation must have partially worn off during that time as I then heard every word he spoke for the next half hour.A typical operation takes 15-20 minutes. I heard the sound of the pump used to suck out the broken up lens particles and saw him insert the new lens in the cornea. It tore and I heard him ask for a second one, which he had to stitch. But the next day when I went back for debriefing and post-op tests, he was utterly amazed that 24 hours post-op I had no pain, no puffiness, and had 20/30 vision in the eye. This board is no longer in pale pastels. It is bright and vibrant and I can see in 3-D now. I am taking it easy at home but plan to go back to my office work (light duty) tomorrow, but will wear a clear plastic shield over the eye (required at night) to prevent me from absentmindedly rubbing the itcy eye and risk needing more surgery to repair it.
Hope this is not TMI and thanks very much, Bosda, for your concern. I have more details written up that I can share with anyone who may be fearful of going thru the process, like I was for so long.
Por nada.
See, see!
Hooray! I’m glad to hear you’re doing so well, Ignatz.
