The line I highlighted in blue is where they mention the paint/material. Feed that into google-translate and it does not quite come out the same as what ScottRP’s source says.
But this is not divinely-inspired text: we know that text was translated with perfect accuracy and no ambiguity.
“The problem of evil” (and the problem of pain) is a gigantic fly in the theological ointment. Christianity tries to get around it by blaming Adam and The Fall for the existence of sin and pain…but this overlooks the role of The Serpent, and the obvious pre-existence of evil in the otherwise perfect world of Eden.
It also is very damaging to a religion that depends upon “The Elect” to see not only terrible things happening to good people, but numerous really bad people living entirely blessed lives. The complete decoupling of morality from outcome seriously impugns the notion of an intervening God.
(I still laugh at when Jerry Fallwell declared that a hurricane would wipe out Disney World, for their sin of allowing gays to dance. The hurricane, instead, fell on Fallwell’s own town of Lynchburg VA. Hm… Maybe God does intervene on moral grounds!)
Scott, while it’s commendable you have such a good moral code, you’re basing your faith on orbs that are easily explained as camera lens defects, pareidolia, and the words of charlatans. Eventually you’re going to realize these are phonies, and you’ll have a spiritual crisis on your hands. Stop using these dubious shams to verify your beliefs and stick to what’s true.
My post was not erroneous, I was quoting a source. From my understanding, it was members of the JPL that examined the tilma. And no, I do not have a source for that. I would not discount all this though. I believe the Vatican claims it all to be true. Surely, they would not lie about something like this. Also I heard that, “In 1936, biochemist Richard Kuhn, a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, analyzed a sample of the fabric and ascertained that the pigments used were from no known source, whether natural, animal, mineral, or vegetable.” It is reasonable to believe that the image has been examined. And we find no reports of any scientific examination to the contrary.
Just as God did not bring illegal drugs and cigarettes into this world, neither did He bring evil into it.
God battles evil by delivering souls from the evils of hell through His Son, Jesus Christ. Where you go is up to you according to your faith. It is a personal choice to be with God in heaven or without Him in hell.
Your sources are from those with no empirical knowledge. They have never seen a spiritual orb for themselves and hence know nothing about them. You may as well give up on trying to discredit me about these orbs because I have seen and studied thousands of these orbs with my naked eyes and know exactly what they are. They are the Holy Spirit and some of His works. I will not budge from the truth.
Okay, you see them, and you know what they are. I think many of us can believe that you do see them. Most of the rest of us do not see them and have no reason to believe that they exist. In what way are your visions of value to us?
