…and it’s really cold. For western WA anyway. I don’t spend a lot of time in my own apartment, so I didn’t realize that my gas heater was on the fritz until earlier today. I left work early to purchase a space heater, which is doing decent duty in the corner. Since this is a studio, there’s not that much space to heat, but the kitchen and bathroom are freezing! When I walked in today it was 49F. Now I think it’s 58 in the area where my bed is. I have a down comforter, so that helps a lot. It doesn’t seem that cold to people who live north or east of me, but I have a big exposed brick wall that sucks the heat out. But brrrr… ---

I’m thanking God that I have the woodstoves. We lost power during the Northeast Ice storm of 2008 last Thursday, but have kept warm with the woodstoves in our home. We’ve stolen a generator from my father-in-law (he’s in Florida for the winter), so we’ve at least been able to power the fridge, the downstairs freezer, and the TV. It does get a bit nippy in the house in the morning though, unless I’ve woken up and fed the stoves overnight. ---

I don’t have heat, either, thanks to my fucking landowner that I’m about to drag to court. On review, since there’s a pit thread, I’m going to elaborate there. ---

I left my heater on this morning when I left the house at 0530. It’s as low as it will go, but it’s still on. It’s usually after 1900 by the time I get home, and with highs in the 20s I thought I should go ahead and burn the propane. Takes too long to warm up otherwise.
