# My beef with insurance on THIS particular day

Seriously.

I had university insurance when I was in school because my parents couldn’t be bothered to cover me on their plans. One drunken evening, I broke my foot. I kept it on ice and refused to go to the ER until the next morning, when I was sobered up. My friends kept saying, “You don’t have to be a hero, let us take you!” I’d counter with, “Are you going to pay for the x-rays and cast when the insurance refuses to pay because I was shitface hammered when I tripped over a leather jacket and broke my foot?”

I hobbled off to the ER, bright and early and stone cold sober, the next morning. But it was a damn long night.
