# My best friend died Wednesday.

The funeral was at 10:00 this morning. My throat was still unable to say, “Goodbye, old friend,” at his casket, and I could only croak out, “I’m so sorry,” to his mom. I guess I’m entitled to make a breakdown scene at the funeral, but I didn’t want to. He had such a dysfunctional family that somebody probably would have punched me.

I’m okay. Thanks for listening, and for your good wishes.

I am so sorry. It’s so hard dealing with the loss of a friend. One keeps thinking of them in the present tense.

And it starts to get strange when it’s no longer surprising for a person who is your age, or younger in this case, to pass away.
