I heard half-million several times, but I also heard million several times. That confused me. Is the other half-million for Steve? ---

True, Randi didn’t know much about him when she said that her family knew she would never date someone like him. But of course she spent more time with him than _we_ saw. Enough time to perceive that he was a big doofus. There is the minute possibility that she wouldn’t have held his fat ugliness against him so much if he had been suave and debonnair. From the other side of the house, we had Steve repeatedly telling the camera what a great actor he was because he thought Randi was really buying what an undesirable person he was–as if only his amazing acting skills prevented his real self from shining through. As if when he’s not acting, we might mistake him for a young Sean Connery. ---

The payoff that they are telling Randi about about breaks down to a quarter-million paid out to each of the four main parties: Randi, Randi’s family, Steve, Steve’s family. So collectively, they talk about a million dollar prize, but as far as Randi is concerned, it’s a half-million. ---

I was kind of half watching it, and thought it was pretty funny. I’ll predict right now, though, that the big final twist will be that her family was in on it the whole time. ---

**Diogenes** , was it the Spongebob episode that has Patrick incessantly watching television, and breaking into hysterical laughter, saying “HAha! He got hit on the head with a COCONUT!!!”? That would have added a bit of irony to the situation. I’ve thought ever since childhood that people who attend freak shows do so at the expense of their own dignity. Having the role of the freak filled by a non-traditional player doesn’t change my view of the loss of dignity to the audience. Remember, you _did_ ask . . . Obviously you’re not alone. No, I don’t think you’re an asshole. But I wouldn’t have figured on you finding LCD stuff such as this appealing. Life is full of little surprises, I guess. All in all, not my cup of tea. You folks go ahead and have a good time, anyway, though. ---

I’m a little confused by the premise. I think the first episode was repeated tonight, right? So…the BFO guy is actually an actor, and his purpose on the show is to drive her crazy and to make her job (of convincing her family that she loves him) harder. So, he’s actually “not a regular guy who is in it to win the money”. He’s part of the joke, and Randi doesn’t know. Do I have it right? ---

Indeed, I am some kind of judge of what is attractive and what is not. Aren’t you? I think he’s ugly, you think he’s not ugly–that’s the way it works. I am surprised no one has jumped up to insist that he isn’t fat, and that no one has the right to say that he is. ---

Oh, dear God, I despise this woman. I can’t believe she brought him a list of stuff he needs to change, including, no kissing. Excuse me, Barbie, aren’t you supposed to in love with this guy? Do you think that you should make the slightest effort in front of others to feign some affection for him? Her behavior with sex therapist was ridiculous, and she called _him_ “inappropriate” for pretending to have a sex life in the therapy session like they were _effing TOLD to do_. Her facial expressions just exude hate. Her attitude is completely superior and controlling. Her sense of entitlement is amazing. And here’s another hint…if you have to try to convince people that you really are “fun.” You aren’t fun. Her friend was just as snooty and shallow as she was. It’s obvious that looks are the _only_ criteria for these two seahags. And her family looks like a nightmare. The mom especially looks like a controlling, psycho bitch. “He will not be in my family.” “If I don’t like him my claws will come out and she will come home with me.” Her daughter is an adult, is she not? Does the mom think she lives in a Hmong village in Laos where she gets to make marital decisions for her kids. This looks like a truly despicible family. I hope “Steve” drives them out of their gourds. I also hope that Randi loses the miney but I don’t think she will. These shows always have a payoff. Even if her snotty family walks I’m sure they’ll still give her som dough. Oh, and when Steve told her that she wasn’t his type because he liked Asian chicks…and she bought it? That was the funniest part of the series so far. ---

I’m starting to wonder about this show. They couldn’t possibly have picked a bigger bitch than Randi. And her family is just as loathsome. Her mother has the balls (and I bet she does) to say if she doesn’t like him he won’t be part of the family. What a bitch! That uptight, judgemental group of arrogant assholes could use to have a guy like Steve in their family. God, I hate Randi and the whole family. I also was wondering how hard this would actually be. I think I could act like I loved Randi for a half million. Who the hell is she to make a list? My list would include french kissing in front of everyone, petting and stroking in public, and cute pet names, to name a few. I think my family and friends would get over it after I showed them the check and we had a big laugh and party after it was all over. If this is truly on the up-and-up, her family is coming off extremely poorly. And Steve was right about one thing. She’s not as pure as she comes off. If she is, I truly pity the man who marries her and enters that family. ---

I only chanced across five minutes of this—the sex-therapist part. In time to see the “heroine” say, “I’m a very private person, and very shy . . . I’m a Catholic-school teacher.” Ummmm, isn’t this the same gal who is whoring herself on national TV and trying to convince her “beloved” family and friends that she’s engaged to a total stranger? There ain’t enough Hail Marys in the world for this chickie . . . ---

Can anyone recap some highlights of last night…I missed it do to voracious grading until 2 a.m. I too hope Steve drives them crazy and they lose…I just want to see the looks on The families face when they find out they lost the chance to get a lot of dough if they just accepted Steve. It’s horrid to think families like this actually exist and are sooo low.
