> Don’t take any flak upon yourself for this. Sleeping with him early on didn’t make him break up with you. He broke up with you because he’s a shallow jerk. For him to lead you on like that just proves that he has no consideration for others’ feelings. I had a few past boyrfiends like that. Don’t waste your time on him - he doesn’t deserve you.

Maybe just immature rather than shallow. It is hard to break up with someone who you know will be hurt by it. Procrastinating to avoid causing pain only makes things worse, yet it is quite tempting. Especially for a freaking 18 year-old.

Part of the danger of getting into a serious, sexual relationship at a young age is that while you might be ready, the other person easily might not be. I guess that’s life though, no guarantees.

Don´t worry, condoms and the pill are always used.

As for the Spanish guy thing, though, I admit that most of them are really hot; however (and I´m not saying this is all of them, just the ones I´ve had extended conversations with) many seem to be really stuck up. And I currently am in Spain, sitting in a little internet cafe so that my brother can check his email.

> I’m not saying you’re a bad person, **monica** , but sex carries with it some pretty intense consequences - not the least of which is an emotional involvement which can make breakups fairly gruesome. It’s just . . . no one’s ever _died_ of not having sex, or even been hospitalized for that matter. You can have a healthy, fun, romantic relationship without sex (and by “sex,” I do mean intercourse, oral sex, anal sex, and all other genital+something interactions). Sex does not make a relationship, nor does it necessarily make a relationship better. From my point of view - having made my own mistakes - two months is a good amount of time to get to know someone _before_ having sex with him. Not _while_ having sex with him.
>
> And . . . and . . . on top of that, are you being safe? Condoms? Every time? Plus a backup form of birth control? Do you have someone to go to if, heaven forbid, something goes wrong, and you need a Morning After pill or treatment for a sexually transmitted disease?

I know I’m jumping on the bandwagon here, but, do you realise that in some countries (such as Aus, where I am), many 17 year olds have moved out of home, and are working or at uni? And can drive? Being 17 here is effectively the same as being an adult, except they can’t drink in public, gamble in public, etc.

To **Monica** , I’m sorry your BF broke up with you. At least now you don’t have to pine for him while you’re away now. 🙂
