I’ve found my broadway dream role. It’s Ulla from The _Producers_. I’m tall with long legs. I can be as blonde as they want me to be. I don’t want to let the fact that I can’t sing and dance get in my way.

I know this has been done before, but what’s your broadway dream role.

I really, really want to play the Emcee in _Cabaret_, and I think I’d be darned good. I see the Emcee as a bitter middle-aged woman, Sally Bowles 30 years ago. There’s nothing in the script that says it has tio be a man (in fact, the Two Ladies number would be even more interesting!). I’d play her a la Lotte Lenya: a raspy-voiced old chorine in a henna’d wig and too much rouge.

I always wanted to be Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar. I am female, so maybe I would be Judith Iscariot. What a tormented character.

When I listen to the soundtrack, Judas always makes me cry.

I’ve managed to snag almost every one of my wished-for roles (not on Broadway, obviously, but I’ve at least had the chance on the smaller stage to “try them on;” I’ve even played the Phantom in PotO), except for the pinnacle of my desire: The Witch in Into the Woods. I even look a bit like Ms. Peters.

Someday…

One of the Barbershop Quartet in **The Music Man** would be just fine with me.

1. 'enry 'iggins. - As luck would have it, my daughter is watching _My Fair Lady_ right now.

2. The Poet in _Kismet_

3. Tevye - I may be a goy, but I’ve been told I look Jewish.

4. Ben Franklin in _1776_ - even though at 6’3" I’m probably way too tall. So I’d settle for either Mr. Dickenson or Mr. Rutledge.

5. At a stretch, Harold Hill. I’ve pattered my way through “The Nightmare” from _Iolanthe_, but “You’ve Got Trouble” is fiendishly difficult.

Alice Beane in _Titanic_, or maybe Caroline. Gimme 30 years and I’ll be thrilled to be Mrs. Straus.

Gimme 20 years and I’ll love to be Natasha, the Margaret Dumont character in the second act of _A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine._

Claire in _On the Town._

I would love to play Matron Mama Horton in Chicago. I’m buxom (tit for tat!) enough, and can belt out a tune. Such fun that would be.

Gertrude McFuzz from Seussical… the one-feathered misfit with a giant crush on an elephant. And she has most of the best songs.

I could totally audition for that role…

If I could sing either Judas or Jesus, and do it well, for just one night on Broadway, I’d gladly offer almost anything I own in payment.

Failing that, the two roles that I want to do, and could probably perform reasonably well, would be Drummond in _Inherit the Wind_ or Willy Loman in _Death of a Salesman_

Absolutely Julie from Showboat. I could pass for partially African American, and I could sing it.

My old dream role was Meg Brockie from Brigadoon, but I had a crack at it a little while back. The screwball comedy of the role and the silliness of the songs made the part lots of fun.

Well, Conrand Birdie for fun.
Don Quixote de La Mancha would be cool.

Hmmm…I’d have to go with either Sally Bowles or Fantine from Les Mis.

Lily in The Secret Garden or Florence in Chess.
No, wait. Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde.

I actually did play Annie/Shelley in _Evil Dead 1&2: The Musical_. Well, kind of. It was more of a staged reading. But it was amazing. I’m hoping one day I can do it again.

I have too many of them, but a lot of them are for one or two songs.

Ultimate is Elphaba in _Wicked_. I would kill to play this role.

Amy in _Company_, just to sing "Not Getting Married’.

Lucy in _You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown_

The sister-in-law in _A Light in the Piazza_ (can’t remember her name)

Lois Lane in _Kiss Me Kate_

Tons of others, but these are some of the top ones.

E.
